It seems that one group was prepared for the worst - the Emergency workers. It seems that years of preparing for just such an event has paid off, and over here in Australia we have heard nothing but praise for the Police, LAS, firefighters etc.

Also universal admiration or Ken Livingstone. His response to the bombings has been eloquent and powerful.

i'm glad you're all OK.

i wish that everyone was.

best to you all for moving forward unbowed.

Whoever worked in the background preparing the contingency/emergency plans and communicating it to all involved certainly did great job.

There is of course one train line where you can't get on with anything. Couple of years ago I was frisked when I forgot to remove a small tin of Vaseline from my pocket when walking through the metal detector.

I suppose we all knew that the emergency workers were well trained and well-prepared for an event that would involve us. I talk to a friend who is conversant with such plans and they talk about using a London Bus to ferry the injured to hospital, once again you don't equate that plan with yourself, an ordinary person.
Mercifully I wasn't personally involved yesterday but it was sadly clear that although the emergency plans were spot on they were in operation because something had happened. The possibility had become a reality.

Gosh! You finished your post at quite a poignant time, DG.

is it true there are 30 odd bodies being stored in Great Ormond Street's underground car park?
