So marches progress.

DG, thank you for the link to Londonist. You'll be able to see our pics and hear our recording tomorrow.

I have re-activated This Isn't London for the occasion, and intend to maintain it.

And Sands, we may be backed by an American-based network, but I've never worked for something that cares more for London. And we are really really, truly independent; the transAtlantic traffic is less than I think you imagine.

Londonist's staff are all Londoners, and more importantly they all love London.

Thanks for reprinting DG. Your site's a good read. Re above, yes time marches on. Yes everybody and their auntie are covering this story. It's nice to see somebody whose feet are on the ground (DG) blogging the realities. My only point was that something unique and beautiful in its own way is about to disappear. Hopefully a few people will actually hop on the DLR and take a walk around a special part of London before Nandos Chicken and Starbucks move in.

Something unique IS about to disappear, but if London can get 2012 right, then something equally unique and beautiful is going to take its place. The Olympics of recent years have been blighted by increased commercialisation, of that there can be no doubt. But there is still a bit of positive spirit that remains, and that can produce something quite special. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

dg - and all other london bloggers - i hope you're alright ...

am reading metafilter atm and things don't sound too good in london today.

Hope you are ok DG? Sad day for London after such euphoria yesterday.

Just like yesterday, I'm thinking about everyone at home, but for different reasons.

I used to live just near this stretch of greenery and enjoyed many a stroll to and through the wilderness. Sad to think of it being tidied away...
