please empty your brain below

It was worth staying up just to see Jeremy Paxman's interview with George Galloway. The man has an absolutely staggering level of smugness, contrariness and arrogance. You know which one of the two I mean.

That's assuming he sticks it out. Or is that wishful thinking.

Tony Banks was an utter star. I've rather lost my faith in Tony Banks of late but he punched with both barrels and only forgot to mention the "Oona's Jewish" bit.

I pity you. More to the point I pity the poor and inarticulate of the constituency. By all accounts he was an appalling constituency MP in Glasgow.

I commiserate with you DG.... just heard the arrogant twat on the radio. I cannot believe people voted for this man.

I'm glad you caught the Paxman interview and I hope it get repeated at some stage along with Banks' cutting remarks. I never was a huge fan of Oona King when I lived in Mile End thinking her just another Blairite clone but she seems like a saint now. You have my sympathies.

Paxman transcript

Considering yesterday you were telling us you'd be voting for your contituency, and your constituency has chosen George, you should be happy as the majority have got what they wanted.

If his radio4 performance this morning is anything to go by, I wonder what it was he said during his campain that made voters in you constituency think "yes, this man really cares about this place" because that's really not how he came accross.

You were worried about the people of Stratford yesterday.

Today *I'm* worried about them.

People with brains that small are a danger to us all.

dg says: The people of Stratford are fortunate - they live in the constituency nextdoor.

Er surely it could be 2010? It can be five years ...

I'm not sure I've ever felt that I had a constituency MP who represented me at Westminster. Isn't it all just a big game played out on a National level?

Unfortunately (for you) your constituency was the one targetted to send a message about the Iraq war; if it had been my MP who'd been ousted I can't imagine I'd feel any less represented than I do now!

I did try to check the boundaries there too, but failed to quickly work out how to re-centre the map on the site I got to!

Just saw your new MP being interviewed on BBC1. His only policy seemed to be 'The BBC have got it in for me and my constituents voted for me."

I've just watched my new MP give another interview to the BBC. Just as complacent, just as self-righteous, just as disagreeable, just as offensive. It wasn't a dream last night, was it?

Oh dear. Oh dear.

I live in Bethnal Green/Bow too - I'm very shocked at the result. I really didn't think George would do it, but he did, and I wish he hadn't. I agree with all your sentiments DG - roll on 2009.

Good grief. The man's a total lunatic. Cheers for the link to the interview, since I'd gone to bed by then and missed it.

Sorry about George Galloway mate. I was thinking of you!

No consolation but he said on BBC Radio 4 this morning that he won't be standing at the next one.

God, poor you, DG. You really have my sympathies being landed with that smug, cantankerous bastard who has used such horrendously nasty and vituperative techniques during the election.

The interview with Paxman - although I didn't see it live - was fabulous. Thank God for Jezza.

Lordy.

The man's a menace.

You have my sympathies.

I was just wandering around some blogs (I'm LJ user) and came across yours. Given your subject in this post I thought you might be interested in this:

Assassination: continuation of democracy by any means necessary

It might just be necessary - he is the last thing that part of town (or the country for that matter)needs

DG
Sir, I salute your courage (for not going round to his place with a baseball/criket bat and ....), your strength (of will to live in a constituency deviod of meaningfull representation), your indefatigability (sorry, so sorry)

You should have taken on my maxim -Vote Early..Vote Often

Again apologies for your predicament

scarey!

Ouch, atleast you know how some americans felt, when they woke up with GWB was still in power :D.

(Speaking of which anyone know how i can blow him up he is visiting us this weekend :D. For the secret service its a joke a joke, you know funny stuff, people laugh... sigh Americans dont get irony do they. They will pick me up in a few hours after writing this down.)

It's heartwarming to see that The Friday Thing linked to that interview as well.

So very very sorry. As a Scot, and one who spends a large portion of time in Glasgow, I would like to apologise on behalf of the Scottish nation for foisting "Gorgeous George" on you.

Mind you, we aren't have glad to be shot of him... (sorry)

Now I'm no fan of George Galloway, but that first question of Paxo's was pretty inflammatory and, it must be said, begging for an aggressive response surely.

That question may have been inflammatory but it was no worse than some of the vitriol George has been spouting these last four weeks. A better politician would have handled it without coming across as a complete arse.

Have you ever asked an MP to take up an issue for you?

No?
Thought not.

So, what's the problem?

The problem is that I'm not the only person round here who might want to take up an issue with their local MP.

See, I'm thinking of others again

Well, those religious fundamentalists made their bed, so - let them lie in it. You can't be responsible for them.

At least you have an MP who speaks. My local one in next door Poplar and Canning Town did not ask a single question in the last parliament. And I got another four/five years of silence from this mupppet.

our mp has really horrible teeth. is that any consolation DG?
