Self quarantine for incoming flyers is not enforceable, as many countries found out, plus the passengers are free to distribute their nasty germs en route to their chosen base.
Hotels local to the airport have been used in many countries for weeks now by Governments.

Meanwhile at least 2 flights from the infested New York area so far this morning.

I watched Winston Spencer de Pfeffel Johnson last night and was appalled: the man is a clueless blustering bombastic idiot who thinks bonhomie is the way to go. He has no grasp of detail whatsoever. Just 2 examples and then rant over! 1) So fines for breaching will go up, to how much? It matters, because if the fines are no more than the equivalent of a parking ticket and, most importantly, the chance of being caught is practically zero, the restrictions will be broken. 2) So incoming air travellers will be voluntarily quarantined. As above enforcement level will be low and how ever does one stop say a French lady arriving to see her British boyfriend 'accidentally' getting the house number wrong? I have read that flights from the Irish Republic will be exempt. Does that mean that the Republic have agreed a similar system? Throughout all this, there has been no mention of a co-operative approach with the Republic so as to get the British Isles working together at a time of crisis. Oh, I forgot, the 4 home nations can do their own thing! Finally, the reference to air travel, have all ferries including those to the Republic been stopped?

Johnson is a dangerous clown but what I loathe him for most is his role in driving out some sensible serious Conservatives: Hammong, Grieve but above all others the one man who has the qualities to lead at present, David Gauke.

It isn't "the Irish and the French", it is people arriving from Ireland and France.

Which could include British people coming back after a holiday, if holidaying in France is permitted. Or anyone in the world who manages to go to Ireland and fulfills the Irish quarantine requirements (if any)
