Argh, now I have guilt about my incorrect usage of horizontal lines. But I don't like the 'correct' way of using them, I find it aesthetically unappealing. Therefore I shall continue to use them the way I always have, but with an added nagging guilt about not doing things the right way. |
I see that there are only two dash possibilities on my qwerty keyboard. I also note that there is very little possibility of anyone failing to understand my meaning if I use the wrong one (unlike, say, commas or apostrophes). I note furthermore that they all look pretty much the same and unless they were all lined up next to each other you can't tell whether a lone dash is a hyphen, an en or an em. I thus don't worry. |
there are only 2 possibility on the keyboard but you may notice that the word processor will adjust according to spaces left or not (I had wondered before why it did it). |
