I thought it was superb too. Luckily we don't get wheelie bins where we live.

There is a "Birmingham eye" wheel too- perhaps we should worry.

Did you hear the daleks can FLY now? Sofa tactics required for that episode I think.

Early reports from friends with kids suggest they loved it - one FOAF had to take her son outside and show him the wheelie bin wasn't alive.

It was great and looked impressive. Chris shows that the Doctor does have a real personality.
Roll on next Saturday night!

Very promising. Billie Piper's a natural - who'd have thought it! And Christopher Eccleston provides an appealing Doctor as a man so highly intelligent and excitable that he falls down on the social.

The music needs work, and it felt a little rushed (but maybe that was because I was feeling rushed too!)

So glad it's been written with a view to the fans, unlike my other fave Battlestar Galactica, whose new franchisees ignored the fans' wishes and destroyed it completely.

Excellent... I was pleasantly surprised by Ms Piper too... our 12 year old clearly enjoyed it too.. regularly telling Billie "No, don't go in there...."

Impressively she exclaimed "Nang!" (cool) when confronted with the nature of the Tardis and claimed she had one and that was how she'd managed to score two goals in the England match earlier that afternoon when we hadn't noticed her missing.

But don't you think that there was a little too much action for one episode? Mr BW reckoned that there was enough there for a 6 part series in days of old.

And why have they changed the inside of the Tardis?

Hmm not sure... I didn't know it was going to be that long so kept expecting it to end.... with the exception of the slightly drawn out final confrontation with the plastic beings I though it was about right. Whether they can keep the pace up throughout the series I don't know.... let's hope so.

Watched one of the old Dr. Who films the other week. Strange how the good "guys" reminded me of Julian Clary.

oooh, just watched it, and loved it

I loved it too - even with the technical 'invasion'. (See my blog if you didn't notice...) (Sorry for the shamelss advertising - it's just quicker than rewriting it here.) There seems to be a lot of goodwill towards this series. Bring on the even more scary monsters! Zoe Wanamaker as a piece of stretched skin - marvellous!

I used to hide behind the sofa too! I thought the new Doctor Who was an excellent first effort. Billy Piper was surprisngly good, but I still think Christopher Eccleston might be a bit young for the part.

thanks ever so for the tip about the repeat. had video crisis yesterday. lovin yer work.

Son of Groucho, surely ANY actor is going to be too young to play a 900 year-old?

Really enjoyed it. Theme tune a bit messed up (a bit of work should set that right), final confrontation a bit drawn out and not terribly tense, but still good. I think Christopher Ecclestone, much though he tried to do the comedy, is still a much better dramatic actor - the point at which he really came alive was the speech to the Consciousness (or whatever) about the war and trying to save them (etc etc).

Favourite bit - Rose asks who he is. 'The Doctor'. 'Doctor What?' she replies. Brilliant.
