you missed soho. the mo mecca.

I would say Kew Gardens has the most feared admission charges - I think its £10 a pop and every English person who goes there says to the ticket sales man, I remember when it used to be a penny.

Most feared admission charges ?

Madame Tussauds by far.

And a big, big, big disappointment for me, once I visited it. It's not a museum - it's amusement park .

And what about Camden Market? Goth centre and proof that there is extraterrestrial life after all.

Kew is cheap compared to the Tower. It's also more interesting. The Tower's £13.50!! I've not been to Tussaud's, mind you. Is that more expensive? (I'm certain it's less interesting)

Ditto Tussauds. I only went on a BOGOF ticket with Tesco vouchers. Once inside I thought that I was in a special 'walled garden highlights' bit for the Tesco oiks only.

Very shabby, smelly and in need of a face lift. Or a bullzoder.

Spot on with the rest Mr DG, and do I detect the first ever obscenity on this blog?

nice job, dg!
i'll be using this next time i bring the missus over. cripes, almost forgot, and anglosaxy junior...

I third Madame Tussauds. I had fond childhood memories of that place but it's all just a bit, well, tatty nowadays. The building is pretty groovy in and of itself (lots of twisty passages and different levels) but not exactly crowd friendly. I went recently on a Tuesday morning and the toilets were filthy and the place pretty crowded. God knows what it must be like on a Saturday. And oh, what had they done to the Planetarium (sorry, Auditorium)... The best thing was Gearge Dubya with a pull string in his back to make him talk.

Sightings of profanity in the dg wild do exist although they are rare: 27/11/03 saw a few instances of f---, and there was a s--- sighting in 2002.

Leicester Square

Paved area enclosed by cinemas, where gangs of uwashed, european teenagers and their backpacks are stored.

I daren't go back to Madame Tussauds and the Planetarium for fear it'll wipe from my mind how good the place used to be 30 years ago.

As for adding new locations to this map, I'd have to add a complete row or a complete column so it wouldn't be as easy as it looks.

The most feared admission price in London - The Tube.

Shoreditch, it's really a satellite outpost of Hoxton. Famous for Tracey Emin. She said (to paraphrase) "Its art because I say it is." In that case Tracey, I say you are a pain in the arse.

I like it! How about a dg guide to east London next

dg writes: Hmmm, I'm very tempted, but later...

I had to have a real look to find the profanity in the article ...

DG - don't go. Under any circumtances. Keep the memories intact.

Brilliant...

Nice map - but how come it doesn't go South of the River (apart from the London Eye, which is in the river)? Are you, perhaps, a cabbie?
