Hee hee - my grandparents met when my Grandmother spotted my Grandfather fielding in a game of cricket, so she cycled near him and deliberately fell off her bike. He came to her rescue and some time later they got married.

Things were so simple in those days.

hey DG, your great grandparents got married in topshop?

My granddad was into genealogy in a big way. Thanks to him our family tree goes back to 1457. Notables include Anthony Trollope (his aunt was my great x 5 grandmother---not sure what that makes him to me) and John (think it was John) Bradshaw, who signed Charles I's death warrant.

More wonderful stuff. All the more poignant since it looks like I'm going to be the one that brings my own dynasty to extinction - I'm the youngest son, neither of my brothers had kids, and I don't think it's on the cards for me, so that's the end of that.

Good idea for a series, DG. I've been keeping something ancestor-related in the pipeline for a few weeks now on my own site... just need the time to write it up properly.

i've never met my grandpa.. but through dad's stories.. he's more alive than ever..
