It's funny isn't it how those newspaper articles can pick the worst of the worst and make a place sound like hell. The small town I grew up in was once given the 'documentary' treatment, and you'd come away convinced it was a hell hole of junkies and violence. Bits of it were, but I don't remember ever fearing to walk the streets at night.

And Tooting, where I lived for a few years, frequently had yellow police boards up, but only one of them was for murder and I was only ever mugged once. Loved that place.

i used to live in the leftmost towerblock, 24th floor.

The real shame about those blocks is that while there are a lot of scrotes living there (it was a frequent location on the BBC's 'Life of Grime'), I find myself turning up to lovely old people who have suddenly found themselves surrounded by squalor and crime.

Oh and your 'incident', it was probably the stabbing - but depending on where \\_exactly\\_ you live it might have been the bloke who went to hospital with "Shot to abdomen, shot to chest, shot to right arm...oh and shot to left leg".

I suspect the stabbing, because the shooting went to the Homerton.
