A fine selection, but may I draw your attention to the following?

Hope of the States - The Lost Riots
Morrissey - You are the Quarry
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
The Delays - Faded Seaside Glamour

Notes with satisfaction that The Streets are number 1 in the album chart this week and the Scissor Sisters are number 2

Yes you're right - 1am on 2 July is exactly half way through the year, but this time last year we were still in the 1st half of 2003 (and would be until 1pm!)

YES! YES! YES! to Mylo & The Scissor Sisters.
REALLY? YOU THINK? to The Streets.

Morrissey - "You are the Quarry" has got to be the best...

morrissey

killers

beastie boys (and after only 4 listens. christ, it's funky)

I've never seen the charm of The Streets, myself. Mind you, that's based on two songs. Geezers Need Excitement, which is crap, and Fit but you Know it, which is also not good.

my gosh I beg to differ on the latter point mr verse + Morrissey wins for sheer staying power

Morrisey is taking the piss guys.... finally he gets some decent production and he uses his most sixth-form lyrics to date. Puhrlease!

REALLY? YES! I THINK! to The Streets.

That "new" Streets single is, I have to say nearly Shangri-La wonderful in its brilliance.

And that's Spector's Shangri-Las BTW, not the nirvana like place.

I'll agree on the *new* Streets single, but I have to say the rest of Mike Skinner's stuff still sounds to me like Chas & Dave doing hip-hop.

Chortle.
