The best thing about "The Dome" was the little golf carts they gave the ambulance personnel to run around in.

Hours of fun...

Domes are cool.

Beep!

I've done that walk the other way, from Greenwich up the riverbank to the Dome. Gradually the touristy bits fade away, you pass the odd beached wreck, and suddenly you're in the middle of a most unexpected heavy industrial landscape. Whole buildings have been abandoned, some are being knocked down, others look like they'll fall down by themselves. The Thames Path weaves past and through what the uglier side of London used to be - ugly but essential.

It's so wonderfully q u i e t - so unlike the rest of London. On a really, really hot afternoon (if we get any of those this year) go down there and sit quietly by the fountain at the beginning of the ill-fated guided busway. Pure silence. Stay away developers.

superb photograph with the padlock in the foreground. Can I have a copy?!

ok - ignore the last comment. I just found it on your photoblog. Bloody brilliant shot though...

Excellent pics in the photo blog. I agree - the padlock pic is great - and the fountains one too.

Forgot to say: my sis lives in the Millennium Village - spectacular views of the wharf and all the lit-up skyscrapers at night - but as the Inspector says: it's pretty bleak - and the constant howling of the wind is depressing - especially in the winter months.

love the padlock pic.

The padlock pic is indeed superb.
