Spooky synchronicity here - Mr BW and I were only talking/wondering about the Jubilee Line when we were on it on Wednesday.

I can remember the Bond Street bit being very new when I was a student living a couple of hundred yards down the road from it in the early 80s.

And, not having been on the bit from Stratford in, until Wednesday, we weren't aware that sections now have protective 'outer doors', like they do in Singapore and HK. Is this the only line that has these doors, or are there others now?

I'm going to have to be picky here, DG. On the map of the Jubilee line that you link to, it looks like Charing Cross is on a branch/spur line, rather than direct, yet you say there are no branches on the Jubilee line.

Which is it?

Sorry to be picky, and/or pick faults. I'm actually looking forward to reading the tour...

Ah, Charing Cross, I could go on about Charing Cross tube station for hours (and probably will later in the month).

Let's just say that the map shows all the stations that have been on the Jubilee Line, and Charing Cross isn't any more.

As for the protective doors, it's just the new section of the Jubilee (and, again, more later).

Hi there DG - you mention that your journey going to be "virtual" - does this mean that you won't actually be travelling the line? My tube station is Kinsgbury on the Jubilee. Need to know whether we should smarten up the neighbourhood in preparation for your visit!

I'm looking forward to this. I was on the Jubilee line just the other day and it's really noticable that the newer section (the part with the protective doors) is surprisingly a very smooth ride. However, once you get to the older section, it gets rough and if standing, you have to hold on for dear life!
Bring it on DG x

I could live in Canary Wharf station.

Beautiful.

Jag - I'm visiting each station in real life too. And you're too late to clean up because me and my camera visited Kingsbury last weekend.

Inspector Sands - you've got exactly a fortnight to write that post.

Darren - think of the heating bill...

I just spotted the deliberate mistake in the first paragraph. 1999 indeed! Most unlike you.

Oops. I can't believe it's taken nearly three years for anyone (or indeed me) to spot that. Thanks Alan.
