OK - I see your point about the train timetables - but for the route planner and spider maps? Well think of it this way DG - it gives the "clever" people an advantage over the rest right? I mean (and trying real hard not to be egotistic here) but I would really hate it if all my little travel short-cuts, secrets and tips were known by *everybody*. Enjoy Leeds! |
I agree. Old Skool Timetables take some time to learn, but then they become incredibly powerful. Online ones are only useful for finding single departure and arrival times, not for planning journeys. |
you can usually download pdfs of the paper timetable by going to the train operators web-site. ![]() That german web-site is loads better than the network rail one - funny that! |
I used to love reading the Railway Timetable when I was a kid. I'll get me coat... |
Oh man, spider maps and stop-specific timetables. Don't get me started. The wise and experienced transport authority known as TfL hath decreed that all Londoners are so stupid that they can read neither a map nor a timetable, so must be coddled with maps that allow you to plan no more than one journey, and timetables that are utterly useless. Every 10-12 minutes? That could mean 0 minutes stood waiting, or 12 minutes stood waiting - which? This also means that said thick people can't sue if their bus fails to arrive. |
This might help a bit, as it's a streamlined version of the National Rail Enquiries site - though as the chap above has mentioned the german-based train-timetable is far better than anything we have here. http://www.dracos.co.uk/railway/...lway/timetable/ |
Ahh, Leeds was nice. And they have proper timetables for every single bus and train route, which was even nicer. |
I had a look at the bus spider maps and not all the buses are included, so you dont know that certain bus routes exist - you have to click on adjacent areas to find out. Say you want to travel from A to B via C. There is a bus that goes from D to E via C. If you click on the map for A or B the route C wont be included, even thought the bus might stop at the same stops as the buses from A to B. Stupid. |
Stop specific timetables...Do my head in. As well as the then about every 10 minutes drivel, they also give bizarre frequencies i.e on route 201, a bus comes every 13-14 minutes. NOT! Good for central London, but insult to anyone else who wants to plan their journey. Aaargh. |
I absolutely hate the old school timetables!
