If anyone's interested in what George Galloway's up to now, he's standing for the Scottish Parliament as a list candidate (not even the first one) for the Workers Party.

What I never understand of a mayoral system is why they still retain the same number of councillors even after they've basically lost any power. They should be looking to severely reduce them at this point - I'm in Croydon and I've got three councillors representing me but given none of them can actually do anything it all seems rather pointless to have that many

The reform candidate name has the feel of being a deed poll name but may be just a mild form of political nominative determinism.
Excitement may be had by holding a draw to whether / when any of the parties complain about family voting / postal voting / proxy voting with respect to the mayorality election |

Confusing how some councils can have a Mayor who can dominate things, even without a majority of councillors. Feels democratically flawed.

Hearing a few rumours that Aspire are in a bit of trouble and it could be less clear cut than previous years.

In contrast, I think it could easily be an Aspire sweep with a few Green wins in the old Labour areas.
Also interestingly Corbyn's Your Party has endorsed Aspire as one of the "local independent groups" it's supporting rather than running their own candidates. |

Randomly stumbled upon your blog, never knew about the corruption behind Aspire.

|
All so very depressing if Aspire sweeps it up again.

I liked this new video from Evan Erdinger on your upcoming council elections, even if I already knew a lot of the underlying stories from your own reporting.
Would appreciate your thoughts on anything you felt Evan missed. |
