Oh dear, DG, mocking BP. This time you have gone too far...

As well as my badges, I also won a competition to name three of Petra's puppies - and I sent them an Easter card covered in glitter. And I can still make an Advent crown with my eyes closed.

*sharp intake of breath*

How dare you say those things about BP!

Konnie Huq is a fine, fine woman, and I wish to protect her.

Obviously DG never got a Blue Peter badge, and will soon confess that his was a Magpie household.

I got given a BP badge by Sally, the older girl across the road, cos I caught her and her boyfriend snogging when they were meant to be babysitting us. In retrospect, it could have been more than snogging, or she wouldn't have had to bribe me with her greatest treasure at the time

Nigel - what did you call Petra's puppies?

Scaryduck - I'm fairly certain I recall DG writing about Magpie and BP before...and that you're wrong.

BW, it was a long time ago, but I think I named them Peter, Kim and Candy. Have I mentioned that I also have a signed letter from Biddy Baxter, and Val, John and Peter's autographs?

Hmmm....thinks.....I have quite a few of the early BP annuals stored in my parents attic. They must be worth a few quid on ebay by now. Must remember to have a rootle around in the tea chests when I am over there on Boxing Day.

Aaah, the sprite of Christmas is alive within me!

The Blue Peter annuals website is dead impressive (he says as someone who still has the 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th... tucked away somewhere). Maybe that answers Scaryduck's question too.

I got out my video tape of the Blue Peter 1995 Christmas show (don't ask) to watch last night, and I don't think you'll find my version is too far from the truth...

I may not have got a BP badge but I did manage to watch a live performance from the studio floor and then chat with the presenters (Valerie, Christopher and John)afterwards.
Now that shows how old I am!

Bugger - i missed the last BP before Christmas again! They seem to finish earlier each year....it's that bit at 5.23 that really gets to me...when they stop "before we sing the last verse" to wish a Merry Christmas...I can feel the lump in my throat now..
