This route passes right by my desk window on my office overlooking Hammersmith Broadway. Excellent travel story. Keep 'em coming!

What a brilliant series! I'm in Mandurah, Western Australia and I've only ever once travelled on a bus in London, so this is all a mystery to me. But what a delightful mystery. All we've got are dolphins!

Huzzah! I used to live just off Chiswick High Road and can confirm it is the tamest place in the whole of London, and the easiest place to find a place to eat on Saturday night. Richard Briers lives in Chiswick (as do Ant & Dec). I rest my case.

So, how do you pronounce the word "Marylebone"?

I have heard many different ways, but it's never been confirmed which one is correct. And I'm afraid to attempt it, incase I make a prat out of myself.

I've always pronounced it marry-le-bone. Don't know if that's the usual way but I've never had any funny looks and I've always got there when I've asked a cabby.

I was told it was Marr-ly-bone, but I'm not a native Londoner so I can't be sure.

Diamond Geezer, you are making me miss London ... I actually recognize some of the places you mention on this bus route from my recent trip there - I regret not taking the entire route though ... these are fantastic posts! Thanks.

Whenever a friend and I go down to London, we always promise ourselves that, one day, we will get off the underground at Mornington Crescent. We imagine the place to be like the scene from Oliver, with strawberries for sale and such a sky you never did see.

The truth is, we're afraid of shattering that image and have never dared to see for ourselves. I'd like to see Chalk Farm, though. I imagine lots of trees with chalk sticks hanging from them, ready for picking!

I suspect that both Mornington Crescent and Chalk Farm would disappoint, so I suggest you carry on visiting in imagination only.

Marylebone is pronounced Marry l'b'n.
Based on medieval French, apparently.

Give me enough notice and I'll pop out of the house with a stepladder and a box of chalk, Did, and I'll see what I can.

LOL. Very good, Mark. I almost fell for it as well! You'll be telling me that there's no Big Top at Oxford Circus next!!

I say MARR-LE-BONE because that's what the nice lady on the Bakerloo line says. If it's good enough for Emma Clarke, it's good enough for me!
