Wooooo! I used to work with the bloke who doth write Freaky Trigger *much respect*

Which condition won't you agree to?

Alan - I suspect it's the "Under 16s should obtain permission of a parent or guardian to enter" one....

That wasn't in last year - I got runners up, and requested them not to print my surname, and they didn't. They did, however, feel obliged to submit my name in full to Yahoo. arrgh!

I'm not entering because I fail to see if I match any catergories, and I'm also pants

I thought last year's was a 'Nominate your favourite weblog' as well as being able to nominate yourself.

If only they'd come up with a category for Best Anonymous Blog...

I am with you DG. It is almost as if the Grauniad have failed to appreciate the essence of blogging. It is publishing without the vanity.

My "sapientum" persona through which I Blog is totally disconnected with either my professional or private persona. I wouldn't mind terribly much if someone managed to connect the two (three) but I am not about to make the connection overtly obvious.

Part of the mystique of reading blogs is discovering new bloggers and learning about them through the glimpses they reveal in their writing and pictures.

I see all your points and if my blog were more personal I would feel the same.

Everyone at work knows about my blog as do a lot of my friends. Not sure about having my real name published but this all pre-supposes you are going to win!!!

When my Blog was in BlogOn I asked them not to use my real name and they didn't, so I suspect that if you asked the Guardian they wouldn't publish it.

Is it the "judges' decision is final" one you couldn't agree to? I mean what is this life without a bit of argy-bargy with those in authority? I'm with you there DG! That's that solved then *goes off whistling*

e - you so misunderstand him dear

Hmm... your loss DG.

The Grauniad's loss, IMO.

Sorry to interrupt..but just so you know. If anyone wants their name not to be revealed, that's fine with us.

We do need to know who you are however, for tiny matters like: who do we write a winner's cheque to..and where do we send it?

Just say you don't want your name to be revealed on the entry form.

Incidentally: The reason we make it so that people have to nominate themselves (rather than just nominating their favourites) is to protect privacy: ie: we don't want people having their private blogs being thrust into the limelight without their permission.

And sarah: what do you mean ...we submitted your name to Yahoo! ? There's no way we'd do that.

So they're reading us already! Why do we need to enter then Graunies - just hand out the plaudits.

Thanks for the info though.

And while I've got your attention (a commenter always returns to the scene of his comment) I think the categories don't fit me at all.
What is good writing?
Who is a specialist?
So I don't think I'll bother entering.

'Tis better to remain unentered in a competition and be thought crap than to enter, lose and remove all doubt.
