Happy bloggiversary, Geezah!

I first discovered you via Swish Cottage, and have been visiting regularly ever since. For the past 6 months at least, I've been visiting on a more or less daily basis, and have enjoyed watching this site develop, grow and steadily amass readers & links. I've always enjoyed the "predictable unpredictability", the exactingly high standards, and the uncommonly rich content, which can swing from factual to personal, profound to trivial, remaining consistently excellent all the while. By any objective measure, DG has to be one of the very best blogs out there, and I really do mean that most sincerely (folks). Congratulations on building such a fine site, and thank you for all the enjoyment I've had from it over the past year.

Seconded

Thirded, if there is such a word. You do know that DG is the very first blog I read every day, do you? And not just because you usually post at a time when other sensible people are still in bed.

A genuine thank-you-very-much, DG: I appreciate all the hard work you put in. Here's to the next year!

Quartered, though I'll leave the hanging & drawing to others. I found you while searching for a pic of the Jack of Diamonds. Bravo for the best blog in town, DG.

happy birthday.

i've enjoyed my visits.

the donut started about this time last year as well: here

Congrats. You truly are the hardest working man in blogdom. I still don't see how you come up with all the material and links day after day without having a staff of ten or more working in shifts.

happy blogiversaryday!

Aww, thanks everyone (blush).
The actual anniversary is tomorrow though...

It is a very splendid work. The sort of blog that makes you wonder two things... (a) how *does* he find the time, and (b) *why* does he give it all away for nothing? Don't get me wrong - I'm delighted you do, just I'm sure there's a paper publisher for almost all of this. On a completely non-related note, I hadn't realised that mike had become a non-entrant for the great Guardian compo. Funny how time clouds the memories... And when will there ever be another competition? Happy Blogday, anyway, from the oldest blogger in the universe.

Hey DG - in about 1 hour 15 mins time - it will be a very big happy birthday to your blog. I will probably be asleep - but probably resting assured that your compelling posts will grace my terminal for many a day to come. Best wishes and best regards - Jag

(Just to say: Peter's right - I was indeed an (unsuccessful) entrant in the Guardian compo.)

Ah well, just goes to show that memories can be more important than reality sometimes.

Mike, darling. You're bigger than the Guardian now. Start a "Best British Newspaper" competition.
