have the school holidays only just begun ? in belgium they start on july 1 and run through til september 1.
fortunately, due to my marital status, my kids spend one month here and one month chez dad - i'd go mad trying to juggle a job and keep the buggers amused for 2 months.

Ahhh Robinson Crusoe... excellent theme tune too.
And yes Douglas, it was called the Flashing Blade, must admit I loved that one's toon too....

I've heard that they're thinking of changing the school term system, so instead of having three terms with a big summer break, there will be 6 semesters with two weeks between each. Same amount of holiday each year, but divided differently. I think the intention is to do away with the summer holiday brain-drain memory loss thing, where teachers spend most of september recapping everything the kids forgot during their summer mischief...

They've suggested a 6-term year, but very few schools have yet taken the plunge and adopted it. And there would still be a 4-week summer break to drain brains, although probably not quite so much as before.

Guess what? I've got 6 weeks hols too! I work in education (not a teacher I hasten to add) but my contract is term-time only. It sounds great and generally it is - until you want
eed time off during the school terms and of course my holidays are always surrounded by kids! Trust me you're better off at work!
