And thanks to my colleague's jury service this week I am now 350 quid better off in overtime. Yay! |
I couldn't do it. I could never pronounce someone guilty. There's always a possibility of mistake. Thus my verdict would always be not guilty. I could email it in, without even attending. |
I've been doing Jury Service since 23rd April, and I'm still not finished. What a case. Drugs. Argh. When will this torture end? It was interesting enough for the first few weeks, but the last month has been like Groundhog Day. Please let it end soon. |
It's criminal isn't it, the way they waste people's time |
Supposed length of jury service: 10 working days Actual length: 25 days. Days required to attend court: 26 Number of days spent at least partly in a courtroom: Actual Length minus breaks and deliberations, so it'll probably be about 20 days. Number of trials attended: 1 Number of interesting trials attended: 1 Total amount of time spent in court: Actual Length plus the first day Shortest amount of time spent in court in one day: 4 hours Total amount of time spent deliberating in jury room: 16 hours Number of books read whilst sat around waiting for nothing to happen: 0.5 My value to society over the last fortnight: absolutely no idea. comments have been a mix of: 'hope you made the right decision' to 'putting the baddies away these days, are we?' and what is it with using the word 'juicy' to describe a case. i just don't get it! |
