I guess some people may wish it was somewhere...you know, more "central", but hey it is where it is.
Maybe a south of the river bus for the most central is appropriate, given the Underground's north of the river bias?
Yeah! The centre of London is south of the great divide!
What about the longest distance between bus stops on a route?
My money is on 25 eastbound Bow Church to Warten Road 1.06km (Thanks to Janet Brown). The shortest? How about West Ham Lane southbound (routes 104 and 238) to Densham Road (115m).
Now we know the most east, west, north and south stops; and the centremost. But where is the hindmost as in "The Devil take the hindmost?
Elevation wise, highest and lowest bus stops?

That's my old office on the left. South Block of County Hall. I worked there for the last two years of the GLC, 1974-1976.
Interesting result. It's very close to our result for the geometric centre of London, first worked out by balancing a map cutout on a pinhead http://londonist.com/2014/04/where-is-the-centre-of-london-an-update
@Scrumpy
Longest between stops on a route is almost certainly Teddington to Hatton Cross on the X26 (5 miles)
The Centre of London has gradually slid south since the days of Bacon's office atlas 100 years back, when the K.C.1 statue occupied that position of gravity, important to all London weighted civil servants. It seems that the inexorable tipping of the land due to ice melting is sliding London further south. Let us see what DG comes up with in 100 years time, to reveal just where the very central bike rack is located.
Always knew the centre of London was South of the river. Nothing to do with buses or geology. And the GLC was abolished in 1986...
I'd noticed that close by stops didn't have close by numbers, but I'd not realised the numbering was quite so random / irregular.

It's almost worth filing a FOI request to see if there's any information on how the stops were numbered.
Highest bus stop, yesterday.
But lowest bus stop? Perhaps the stop for the 108 on the Blackwall Tunnel northern approach beneath the A102/A13 junction.
DG, I love this stuff: utterly utterly nerdy, riveting and totally irrelevant to the real world, much better than the politics of last week when we all get serious and a tad nasty, just like real politicians. When is the next write-up due on Bow's bus stops, please?
Sorry to be picky,DG but East street comes out onto Walworth Road, not high street. (Pronounced locally as Woolwoof road).
When I joined the National Westminster Bank on the 23 September 1975 my first Branch was Westminster Bridge South Branch. it nestled in the corner of County Hall were Westminster Bridge Road joined the roundabout. I spent 10 months there, enough time to meet my future wife!
