A very interesting post today DG, I have also read "The Story of Bow Baptist Church" via the link that you gave us and I must say that I found it fascinating, thank you so much.

I would imagine that the architects put in adequate soundproofing materials so that the congregations singing at Bow baptist church will not disturb residents in the apartments above.
The ex Granada cinema at Clapham Juction has had apartments built on top of it and in the upper parts of the old stage fly tower. The once cinema auditorium is now a church, I don't think they have had any problems with noise.

The opening paragraphs of the anniversary pamphlet are the best description I've ever read of what 1930s Bow was like. Not lovely.

Good to see the burial ground receiving some decent attention... so much better than calling it SLAP (St Leonard's Adventure Playground) - as it was just a couple of years ago - as a shoddy cop-out excuse to let the place become overgrown and not have to do any maintenance.

Oh (blushes). I've just clicked the link to your photo on flickr, and see that a similar comment has already been made there.
Erm... by me. Oh well... can't remember everything
