I'm having significant difficulty imagining what one might find in a "drop-in cycle hub".
Build the 47 floor blocks.
What is wrong with a view of St Pauls dome from Richmond Hill with tall buildings in the background. In one of your links it states "the view draws crowds of visitors to Richmond Park".
I live not far away from Richmond and have often been in the parks spot where the view is and no one there except me!
Protect the view of St Pauls but not what is behind it.

If the BBC have studio audiences for concerts at their Maida Vale replacement you will have a nice venue within in easy distance of your home.
Pleased the BBC concert hall is staying in London and not moving Salford Quays.
Reading yet another excellent, informative posting today I thought it's really about time I left a comment: it occurs to me that you, DG Sir, have over the years set out the most superbly valuable record of the transformation of your patch of East London, which we must ensure remains properly archived for historians of the future. A tremendous achievement - keep it up, please! (a daily reader, always fascinated by what you have to say, on any subject).
Ah, the joke of 'affordable' housing. Add in a couple of S106 Agreements and - it's disappeared.

An old, but still highly relevant article on the subject in London: here

'Affordable' in planning/developers terms only means 20% below the open market price. So not affordable at all to most people.
Much as I like a pint of ale, it's clear that there is a bubble when it comes to incorporating microbreweries into new developments, it's not as if the area is short of them or the locals already in the area are likely to be drinking there either (when you consider the racial/religious mix of the area).

What will happen to City Oils? That's the type of business London needs, and it can't be too far away from its customers either
An interesting contrast between the two different styles of consultation. Well, contrasting in internal welcome and other aspects, but both seem to have had equally dismal signage and external welcome. Perhaps neither group were too keen on too many people finding their way in.
I must have gone past Vulcan Wharf last week on a boat trip round the Olympic Park. Good to have it (mostly) accessible, including going through Carpenters Road lock twice, but I noticed that (a) several lengths of towpath are still closed off and (b) mooring a boat to visit the Park is prohibited, with a £150 penalty if you do.
While incorporating a microbrewery into the plan is commendable it is a shame that something a bit more substantial can't be made as a nod to the manufacturing history of this particular area , particularly Luke Howard who churned out all sorts of chemicals from his factory on Lea riverside, notably quinine which goes in your tonic.

Great post, thanks. Smelly dirty businesses such as City Oils are essential for any city. Gradually they get pushed out, meaning more freight as there is a longer drive, and higher costs.
Summer 2019, and City Oils have moved to
