13: One the 19th I walked up to the A4 just at the Hammersmith Flyover, and watched as the funeral procession passed on the way to Windsor. I then went home and took a screen-shot of myself on iPlayer.

21: I got that SMS as well, and had the same experience booking. Luckily I know someone who is working on the vaccine roll-out, and he said that while it will eventually be offered to everyone over 50, they are still going in age order, so are only officially doing the over-65s now. However, if you show up to one of the walk-in sites, they will likely take you as take up for the fourth shot is still quite low.
7: Michael Souris is my alias of choice
29. You may need better insulation. But of itself that would not prevent neighbours' smoking odours reaching you. You must have some ventilation, to breathe, but that should be clean air, not smoke.
30. Perhaps the most dramatic, eventful month of our lifetimes.
9 - It also turns out that if you head to the front gates of Buckingham Palace to see the floral tributes, Diamond Geezer will also be there.
4. Uncharacteristically downmarket? Given the downmarketness of Oxford Street this is quite a challenge. I’m stumped.
15: Perhaps you haven't.
21. I got the text, answered the questions, and booked my jab; a friend was told the same as you. I have underlying conditions (he doesn't) so I wonder if they are clearing up the "vulnerable" first.
7. I use Antony ("no H") Spink when the need arises.
5 - The London/Herts boundary was revised to follow the M25 when the road was built. There's some nice countryside around there, and Sopers railway viaduct (between Crews Hill and Cuffley) is well worth a look too.
18. I enjoy visiting Open House by proxy. I think I must have stopped going in person about the time that you started. The increased need for pre-booking (and comment noted that it isn't necessarily enforced) and longer waiting times at more venues took the shine off it for me.
8, 9, 13, 19 - to me it already feels like it happened ages ago.

21 - not going to bother this time.

24 - at least you resisted a pole joke.

25 - better grab something second hand off of e-bay whilst reasonable quality cassette recorders are still available, any modern stuff just uses a low cost generic mechanism regardless of the branding.

27 - the wording of this question was ambiguous when they handed out the paper surveys on buses, they didn't handle multi-mode journeys well.
28. There's also a miniature railway at Hall Place in Bexley, also £1 on Sundays (although next Sunday is the last time this year), also run by a model engineering society: https://wdmes.co.uk/.
12: I love pâté, but eat it so rarely that I would always go for the non-budget option to enjoy the rare treat that much more.
5. I miss the little pointy salient that extended almost, but not quite, as far as Potters Bar.
21. I got text and then an email. My first attempt said no. Confused. Second attempt, changed one of the yes/no's and got a please come. Unfortunately the booking confirmation says bring proof of why I said yes. The appointment's later today. Will let you know how I got on.
21. Got the text so stopped past my local drop-in clinic. Only they were doing polio jabs, won't be doing covid till Monday. Went back Monday, to be told it's not drop in any more, go home and make an appointment. Which I did. This latest jab is a bit vicious, felt terrible for two days after.
12. I think much the same about the hugely-inflated prices wealthy people pay for most things. Watches are a particular thing; how much more accurate or nicer looking can a Rolex watch be than something more reasonably priced?

22. The blue tickets could easily be made to work. Probably no-one thought to ask for it to be done until it was too late; the current mayor isn't any better at dealing with the people that actually do the work in TfL than his predecessor was.

dg writes: no, it’s deliberate.
1) With Liz Truss being touted as the next PM before the votes were even counted (rigged?) I think we had some idea that things were going to be bad. Just amazed at the speed at which it happened!

4) Rushes to find Redacted on the map

6) Did you notice her bruised hands? Boris not wanting to let go?!

7) Makes note not to visit

13) I stood in the driveway waiting to see the plane go over. It didn't!
Photo: Guessing you are the one in the hi-Vis jacket?

15) Mystery Count?

19) At 11.59pm BBC Broadcasters were surgically removed from their mourning attire and scampered off to fill in their overtime expenses!

28) It's in Roxbourne Park near Rayners Lane station in Harrow, not Ruislip - though to be fair, the other side of Field End Road is. :)

29) Smoking neighbours - the bane of sub/urban living

30) In a another month's time we'll probably be remembering September as a bastion of calm & stability - sigh!
27. I never fail to be surprised at the poor design of many questionnaires / surveys. The recent government "consultation" on the use of Imperial units was a classic!
1. Such a classic piece of irony to commment that everything was normal on 1st Sept.
26. a bit more info about the footbridge installation (it was floated up the Thames) here
2. Suggs is on record as saying that Baggy trousers was inspired by his secondary school, the Quentin Kynaston in St. John's Wood. The school has been problematic for many years (including financial irregularities, Jihadi John), academized twice, through special measures, and name changed to Harris Academy. Of course the wealthy inhabitants of St. Johns's Wood send their children to private education of some sort.
21 Update. Jabbed but queued for 30 minutes. I was never asked for the proof the booking confirmation said I must provide. The very good news is you no longer have to wait after the jab in case of side effects. Just told to drink lots of water today.
3: Some will say time is money, but I find neither of the two Heathrow trains to/from Paddington worth it.
16: I'm a big fan of Mark Steel In Town. The Whitby episode in the last series was a classic.

I recommend listening to the interview Mark Steel gave to Radio 5's Nihal (the show is called Headliners) on BBC Sounds. The story of his adoption and finding out the truth about his birth parents was fascinating.
20. Today the block of flats on Stroudley Walk is just a (very large) pile of rubble.
21. Although the website says its for over 65s, if you persevere you can tick other categories such as having an underlying condition
21. I had the text (and email) but couldn't book on line. But the call centre decided I was clinically vulnerable so I got a booking.
Come the appointment day I couldn't attend (ironically, because I tested positive). Tried to call and release the appointment for someone else to use. Impossible, so my appointment and dose probably went to waste.
28. Roxbourne railway is a stone's throw from my old junior school and very much Rayners Lane (LB of Harrow). Twelve steps across Field End Road brings you into South Ruislip (LB of Hillingdon).
You seem to spend a lot of time in my old manor. You up to something?

dg writes: the railway is in Hillingdon, not Harrow.
25. If you're not already familiar with him, check out the YouTuber Techmoan, who's particularly enlightening on tape players and why almost all of them are crap these days, plus the few decent ones to look out for.
...mmm, I,'m sensing a boundary change in recent years. Mystery!

dg writes: no, it was never in Harrow.
6. HMQ did us great service in hanging on to dispatch Johnson. The thought of him reading from the pulpit again would make my stomach churn.

7. I wanted to drop in to the Science Museum the other day. When I caught sight of a long queue and a smaller line of people faffing with phones to sort out getting in I immediately walked straight into the V&A for an uplifting couple of hours instead. I'll not go to the SM until they stop e-registering.

16. Best show on Radio 4. I love the gentle ribbing that always leaves me wanting to visit the place. It's a sort of comic version of a classic dg gadabout post.

25. Last time I used my tape deck it sounded muted and on checking I saw the brown coating had started to come off the tape containing a unique recording of me playing in a band (of sorts) in 1982. I felt bereft.
Days which have not inspired comment:
10 11 14 17 23

i.e. Open House, The Streets and Cup-a-Soup

(but the vast majority have, cheers!)

16. No iPlayer outside the UK, but I managed to watch 7.5 episodes of Red Rose on BBC1 late night repeats. I felt it was a bit too long, especially in the middle episodes. The last one, however, with the Big Explanation, was much more interesting. Very dark and worryingly plausible.
17. Was tempted by Open House. Forced to register, only to find my intended destinations fully booked. Stayed at home. I had fun filling in the post-event questionnaire.
24. Stroking old firemen's helmets: Very bold and worthy of Round the Horne.
28) Well, well, well, the Harrow/Hillingdon border diverts round the back of the rec ground and bisects the park just beyond the miniature railway!
Every day is a learning day! I was convinced it continued up Field End Road!
