The bus map muppet has also withdrawn many former spider maps (about half for my borough, Haringey, for example).

You have looked at starting from bus stop M. Generalising, I think that from any starting point, you can probably either reach only a small number of destinations, or else (as apparently with bus stop M) you can reach almost anywhere. Sort of like how Julius Caesar is either the ancestor of nearly everyone alive today, or of nobody.

I don't know if the chaos theory of trees branching from each bus route is of any interest to mathematicians but it surely must give staticians something to chew over breakfast.
Doing this anywhere outside London must be completely infeasible.

You could make use of the charity-supported Greater London Bus Maps which are more up-to-date than your official 2016 issue.

In addition the Mike Harris map shows school routes, in some cases they provide handy links, especially for early morning commuters, as they are predictable, for example the recent change to the 384 finally puts in a daily link that was only available via the 606 and UNO's 614 (albeit via a slightly different routeing).
The only change I would make would be to use a different colour for 24 hour routes.

Like Liam, I was pondering on the possibilities outside London.
In most metropolitan areas a similar branching network ought to be possible.
In a smaller city with a series of individual cross-city routes it would be harder.

I wonder if you could take a trip that spelled a word using the bus stop letters used as interchanges. Not using the same route multiple times in succession (have to use a different route between, maybe banning parallel routes as well).
Longest word competition anyone? (word has to be in online version of OED).
