On a PC monitor (22", 1680x1050), I see no difference.

With Safari on an iPhone 5, I do see a difference. The page is initially wider than the screen, in either orientation. In portrait mode, the "diamond geezer" heading is only visible up to the "g", everything further right is out of view.
While there is a difference, it has no practical advantage to me. Previously I double-tapped the text column to enlarge it and have it fill the width of the screen. Now I need to double-tap to scale down.

On my iPad and desktop - can't see a change.
On my iPhone6 it loads up in zoomed more and I have to couples tap to zoom out to see just the text area, and double tap again to see the whole width. This is slightly annoying, yes.

Nuttin'. Not directly on the desktop, and not through an RSS feed (theoldreader).
I'm not sure what it looked like on mobile Chrome before the change, so I can't comment.

Looks the same to me (Dell laptop,1366 x 768, Vista, Firefox 40.0.3).
A bug seems to have crept in to Firefox recently whereby comments are visible only if opened in a new tab. That's still the same and affects other sites as well.

Looks the same on old iMac and on iPad Mini. Rarely use iPhone to look at DG but after a quick size adjustment it look fine, easy to read on the phone.
All is perfect: content, size and layout.

Same, Windows 10, Firefox browser also looked the same using Chrome. Tried it in Microsoft Edge browser and that was also the same, as I am back in Spain I only have one PC out here.

Renders fine.
It opened quite wide today on my screen but I think it's just a function of whatever else I'm browsing, so DG simply inherits the same browser width.
