Lovely garden. I agree, the bluebells are stunning and those tulips were amazing too.

Beautiful!

Of course so long as you stay on the public footpath you are under no obligation whatsoever to pay a penny. Quite a few places (National Trust and others) can be appreciated in this way. Actually as a life member I do this not to avoid payment but because it sometimes enables me to legally circumvent the "strictly no dogs" rule they sometimes have. I have sometimes expected a jobsworth to make the mistake of challenging me but to date it hasn't happened.

Um, I thought you said you went to Emmets Garden *last* Sunday, before Ashridge on Monday? (I was at Ashridge on the Monday - very busy after about 1pm but quieter earlier. I hope my children didn't nearly run you over on their bikes. They enjoyed the egg hunt, even if it was much shorter than your walk.). We enjoyed Waddesdon in the sun today.

Looks wonderful!

The azaleas and rhododendrons (well, they're all Rhododendrons, botanically speaking) in the Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park are looking superb at the moment too - I had a lovely walk there last week and they were just coming to their peak.

Thanks for the tip DG. As a result, we went to Emmett's Garden this afternoon and found it to be a charming place (though the tea shop was struggling to meet demand!).
Handkerchief trees looking good, bluebells fading fast.
Might also be a good place for an 'autumn colour visit' later in the year.

Bluebells are THE great British spectacle. Unique in the world. Shame they only last a few weeks.
