Might be filler to walk, but still just as engaging to read - thanks DG

I think it may have been Du Cane Court where the comedian Arthur Smith lived and may very well still live there. I've read his autobiography and he definitely lives in Balham.

You're right. No 6 is absolutely glorious. We walked it a couple of weeks ago. Hard to believe you're in London

I wandered section 4 and half of section 5 a week or two back - I thought you would pick up on the knitting ninjas when you went past! Did you see another random hoop of wool in Tooting Bec common? http://db.tt/9AjiFmR

Wot-no-self-drawn-Google map, showing the route you took?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, behind the back of Wimbledon Park school, the recreation ground you passed near the end of the walk is called Durnsford, not Dumsford, after the main road 'Durnsford Road' nearby.

dg writes: absolutely yes - it's just that the "rn" looked like "m" in the photo I took.

bizarre upside down map in the old-leaflet, with North at the bottom. Whey would you do that?

I think the fishing close season applies mainly to Rivers.

Du Cane Court was used as a land mark by German bombers in WWII. It was also rumoured, that the building was to be used by the Hitler installed government after the invasion of the UK.

lord haw haw used to say that he hoped his aunt's house would be destroyed by the german bombers
