Later today we shall know. London has got some fine stadiums now so should stand a chance.
As for the 150 people you predicted being stuck somewhere below Oxford Circus due to a tube strike, will Crossrail be run by London Underground?

Heh, heh, excellent.....you do realise DG that if Engerland don't get it you'll be second in line for blame after the Beeb, don't you? ;D

I really hope that we here in the Netherlands have ruined our bid, by not agreeing to tax breaks for FIFA.

Many a true word spoken in jest...

2018 diamond geezer disappear

Wow, what an outcome! Russia and Qatar weren't the ones I thought would win, but I suppose anything is possible...

Well, one bit of your preiction is true - Qatar will have a presence at the 2018 World Cup, (albeit probably only for the handover at the closing ceremony).

Greg, moronic football fan I may be, but at least I can spell thuggery.

Pop a pill and chill a bit mate.

Greg, You always seem so very angry with everything, I agree with Kev, You need to calm down, chill out a bit and realise that not every decision that is made in the UK has to be run past YOU for approval, and by the way you also spelt "Mafia" and "Thugs" incorrectly.

Is the all Korean game penalty shootout with football or guns? And is the penalty in question death?

Thank goodness we didn't get the ghastly World Cup trauma. The Olympics is enough! A strange thing about professional sport is that, except for the money, it's quite meaningless. Amateur sport is different: enjoyable physical exercise, competition but nothing grim and manic, people know each other, there's humour, and games don't last too long. Watching professional sport (I sometimes catch a minute on TV) is like watching robots, inhuman and humourless, without culture, or even speech (except for a monotonous drone). In their venues there's no scenery, music, no interesting costumes. I think it's sad that professional sports people are put through so much stress - the money makes up for it in a way, but they're forced to be robots. I saw a game of Real Tennis in Oxford last year - really enjoyable game, with people who were individuals, not robots; competitive but not stressed, grim or desperate. Yet I suppose professional sport is a substitute for war and not as bad as that. Ah well - rant over!

Actually, to be fair to Mr Angry, "mafiya", with a "y" is the correct spelling when it is clear that the reference is to the Russians, rather than Sicilians (it's a direct transliteration from the cyrillic).

Anyway, well done, it was DG wot won it for...anyone but us.

Greg, I Quote your words,

"The moronic thigs",

this is not spelt correctly.

Nloody keynoards, eh Greg?

Greg.Tingey is the worst thing about this blog.

Patience, davebabs. As a long-time reader of this blog, I have noticed that excitable commenters tend to move on after a while.
Incidentally, I thought DG's comment was the perfect finale to a hilarious exchange. Anyone who has read this far should have stopped reading two comments ago :)

I will one day compile a post of Greg's best spelling mistakes. That was definitely one of them.
