The Cheapside Hoard is jaw-droppingly good. If you go, don't miss the little watch in a tiny casket made from a single emerald, simply amazing.
A shame the South West Trains deal finishes in February, it would have made a cheap day out for when I'm in London at Easter for which I've got nothing planned.
The Cheapside Hoard is outstandingly good. The exhibits are fantastic, and the exhibition is laid out very well too. Do go.
Thursday?
I'd be interested to read of your experience at Broadcasting House if you decide to go. I went on one of the first tours, before they'd really got the wrinkles ironed out, and although I felt it was worth the money, I also felt it needed some tweaks.

Things I liked:
-Going through the doors into the B B C, baby!
-The view of the huge newsroom and the weather-person-booth from the Media Cafe
-Seeing the inside of "old" Broadcasting House
-Most of the commentary

(The thing is, the first two of the above can be done by the general public, for free, although I got the impression that they'd prefer it if the general public didn't know that)

Things I thought were 'meh'
-Trying to show a group of 20 people pictures on an iPad, in the sunlight.
-Almost airport-levels of security paranoia at the metal detectors
-A lot of time spent in front of a vaguely interesting timeline wall display
-Has ANYONE never had the opportunity before now of standing in front of a green screen?

Things I didn't like
-Lots of forced audience participation. I really dislike that sort of thing and when, at one point, they were after eight "volunteers" to participate in a mock radio play, out of a total of 20 people on the tour, I was crapping myself as I made myself as small and unnoticeable as possble.
-At no point on the tour did we get a better view of the big newsroom than from the aforementioned Media Cafe.
-I didn't get to meet Fiona Bruce or Susanna Reid.
glad to see i'm a colour! :-p
Have you ever considered a "Meet Diamond Geezer", session?

Like a 'meet the managers' that TfL do at tube stations sometime - you could set up a table, have your laptop out and live blog/tweet as people come by to join you for a cuppa, talk about bus routes in numbers, and you could give out badges, stickers and pens with your logo and website address on. That way, you'd get to meet all of us in one go, rather than scheduling us in in slots on the week you have off.

What do you mean 'no'? it's a GREAT idea - i bet at least one person below agrees with me...
Surely the DG thing to do would be to travel as far as possible for £10, though that would unfortunately take you to the unexciting town of Honiton.
@ geofftech

oh i agree it's a GREAT idea ...but

it has it's pit-falls

1) only a couple of people turn-up and that may not be a good feeling.

2) alot of people turn-up and you wonder why.

3) alternatively you don't have a "meet session" and never know bout 1) or 2)

4) or, my personal favorite, no one turns up, so nobody will know nobody turned up, so wonder if gave out correct details...now, let me check them details again
Saturday: Wanstead, Clapton, Walthamstow, Tottenham, Harlow, Shoreditch, Rotherhithe.
C'mon Geoff, would Clark Kent organize a "Meet Superman" session? ;)
Last time I organised a 'Meet DG' session (nearly 9 years ago now) he was definitely not terribly enthusiastic, although he cheered up when he found that the pub served Beck's, and there was cake. I'm not, therefore, volunteering to do it again.
@bluewitch - better idea! you & ME (and others?) meet up and have a "talk ABOUT dg, session". what evenings are you free next week? i'm buying.
With ideas like that, DG might turn you into 'not a colour' geofftech...
An opportunity to meet DG and/or geofftech? Where do I sign up?
Cheers for the heads up regarding those £10 fares. Shall be taking advantage of that for sure, though I'm not sure where...feel a bit spoilt for choice at the moment.
P.S.

Readers, you only had to ask.
