Both the photos have the title "Waltham Cross". Was the earlier one Waltham Abbey?

When I saw the torch pass through Birkenhead park, the Samsung people were handing out "bam bams" - one per family. I don't mean one pair, just one, leaving a lot of confused children gripping a blow up stick and not quite knowing what to do with it.
I didn't know there were corporate nominees involved, I thought it was all community champions. Naive little old me...

I'm working outside of London at the moment, and one day, nipping to Tesco for lunch, there was a proper community champion there, a big local charity fundraiser (disabled to boot) who had done his bit of the run and was now making sure as many people as possible got to see, hold, and have their photo taken with his torch. So my colleagues did exactly that (not me - though I was impressed with how shiny the torch was). I thought that expressed the community spirit side of things wonderfully - he was touring it round the local schools for the kids to see as well. Lovely man.

That's probably as close as I'll get to the relay... but will see the real flame (I presume they keep it going in the interval) when I go to see the Paralympics in September.
Hoping to see it go through both Brent and Barnet on the 25th!
I saw the torch relay a few weeks ago whilst on holiday in Orkney. It will be coming near home this week, but glad I'm saw it where I did, as there'll be little opportunity this week. The corporate sponsors tried there best, but struggled. Their special vehicles didn't make it over from the mainland, so they had to make use of some old Land Rovers in relevant colours. It just didn't work with one marketing rep with a home counties accent leaning out of a red Land Rover trying to whip up a crowd of Orcadaians who where just waiting for the torch and flame to make an appearance.
Goes right past our office in Slough Tuesday. Employer has organised barbecue-style celebrations on the Bath Road. Looking forward to it!
It was in my home town of Southend on Friday and although I wasn't there to watch it I followed the progress online. The fact that the torch is now so close to London makes me excited that the games are nearly here.

Looking forward it visiting Merton on the 23rd July, thankfully just at the end of my road where I will be there to see it myself.
Looking forward to see it in E1 (on the roads around where I was born/grew up/went to school) on the 21st and then will see it go past my workplace on the 26th - can't wait.
^^ seeing it!
