My heating is never manually switched of by me, the thermostat is there for that purpose, it switches itself off or on if it is needed. As I keep the temperature at 22c in most rooms all the time I always use a "summer" duvet. If I am going away for a few days I lower the setting.

It got a bit nippy on Monday.
Same here, I've only yesterday brought in the garden furniture as the temp last weekend was 19? in the afternoon.
Brr. I suppose you also leave the window open? Our office has finally switched off the air con.
I was trying to hold out until October, but succumbed!
It is usually colder in my house than outside!
my cat has started to sleep in the house at night, that's an indication that it's getting cooler. meanwhile I've only put the heating on once, I think it was Monday as mentioned above.
good on you, John - keep the energy co's profits rolling in ! Obviously not in fuel poverty class - or only by choice.
Nope, changed to winter duvet last week after waking in early hours a couple of nights running unable to generate any heat for myself.

Im still not wearing a jacket yet, but i see plenty of people wrapped in big coats and hats, scarves gloves, i must be warm blooded or something!
I turned the heating on long ago, as these old fashioned wooden windows are useless when it comes to insulation.
My heating bills are not too bad, the house is fairly new and well insulated, plus the ceilings are fairly low.
John
Enjoy your heating while you can. A Govt. meeting today discussed ways of ensuring continued and uninterrupted energy supplies in future. They are pretty likely to fail with any meaningful long-term policy.

For real sense see 'Sustainable Energy - without the hot air' by David MacKay (free online). Sadly, I remember rationing and ice inside windows. I shall turn my heating up now in commemoration.
We turned ours on on Monday as well. 'Twas a bit nippy that evening. I reckon we probably haven't needed it since, but the thermostat's set to 19.5 and I just leave it there.
I've just gone through the twice yearly ritual where fans and oil radiators are swapped over and the different thicjmness duvets are changed.

I have storage radiators and, unless it's extra cold, I tend to keep them on low, just topping up the heat in a room with a thermostatically controlled oil radiator. I always try and avoid the temptation to put the storage radiators on when the cold weather begins as I know tha they will probably remain on until spring.

18 degrees indoors is a good heat for me (sometimes less) with no heat on during the night.
The heating has been on here every day since I moved in in early August. This is because the boiler is broken and only generates hot water when the heating is switched on.
The landlord has known about this for many months, according to the previous tenant, but has not done anything about it. As all bills are included in the rent this is rather surprising.
