Well, you won't find a 'Star Trek' or a 'Matrix' in my collection of 215 DVDs, but you will find lots of films (all in fact) that I have watched and will watch over and over. Not necessarily the whole film, maybe just a significant part. Like a favourite track on a music CD.

I have a friend who owns no CDs (or any prerecorded music) as he prefers to listen to what the radio chooses to let him hear. I thought that was strange once.

I like my CDs. I like my DVDs. I use films as background in the way that many people use music... I like the dialogue (I even like the dialogue in Spanish - most of my collection has Spanish Language options - I learned Spanish by listen to them and reading the subtitles).

I almost never watch TV.

It's just a case of what's right for you, I suppose. Like most things.

And for me, it's films. You can come over sometime and watch one if you don't want to wait for a TV station to show it, not that 'La Niña de tus Ojos' will ever make it to British TV screens, which is a shame.

Or La Comunidad.

I don't think Spanish cinema has ever topped that half-hour 70s chiller about the telephone box, La Cabina I think it was.

I haven't got a DVD but youngest daughter (11) wants one for Christmas! She is probably ashamed that her parents haven't got with it! We have enough trouble in our house finding a TV programme that everyone likes. We never rent films out now because it causes too many arguments!

I don't have a DVD player, but I do.

I have a PlayStation 2, which plays DVDs. I've only bought four DVDs: The Best of Blur, Bjork's Volumen and two films that bear repeated viewing: Amelie and Memento.

...and, as for The Best of Blur (check), I must say I'm perfectly happy listening to the CD whilst looking at Julian Opie's excellent cover.

Best of Blur?
What?
That *must* be a contradiction in terms, surely?

no comment

Amélie (check), Memento (check), Bjork: Volumen (check).

Ooh, I do like the name of the last track on the playlist there. Might give us "audience" some ideas.....

Another survey out today reveals that sales of DVDs have risen 56\\% in the last year, while sales of videos have fallen 11\\% over the same period. I suspect I'm fighting a lone losing battle against DVDs here.

In fact, judging by some of the comments in the message centre above, I may be fighting about three losing battles...

(in best 'The Evil Dead' voice)

"Joiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnn ussssssss"

Best of Blur is a pretty good DVD as (a) it's on sale and (b) it's got Hammer & Tongs' brilliant video for COffee & TV, with the sad lost milk carton.

And Damon wasn't half cute. Alex too for a while.
