I used to cycle around Rainham and down to Wennington. At the time you had to dodge the large trucks delivering and carting away stuff from the CT Rail link.

I don't think it was ever sunny when I was there; overcast grey skies and mud. That's my main impression of the place. I t doesn't seem to have changed.
Obscure corner - does it have to be remote?

I used to live near Railway Fields, opposite Harringay Green Lanes station. Untouched nature just off the high street, and I think 99% of passers-by have no idea about its existence.
So what IS the reason for trains not stopping? (Apart from there not being a station....)
Willow Farm as in "A flower?" ???
@Greg ... I think you'd be surprised, the local school kids get dragged along to Railway Fields for pond dipping and such like, so probably more people aware of it than you might think
Did you get to the RSPB reserve? Fantastic day out. Nice cakes.

dg writes. Not this time. But I did in 2007.
This reminds me of Wennington in Lancashire, which is of similar size and activity, but does have a train station.
nearly bought our first house there 1983 but my girlfriend could not drive only bus then was the old green line to aldgate
I have only just found your website. I live in the Old Village Post Office, Wennington. We have lived here for 22 years and really enjoy living here. It is peaceful and more often sunny than not. You must have picked a gloomy day. You only have to see the healthy sunny glow of most peoples' tans to see than we do indeed get plenty of sunshine here in our south facing gardens. It was nice to see a post about Wennington in its own right, rather than a one sentence footnote to Rainham.
Thanks for putting us on the map, even though we know we are here.
