A lovely start to the weekend, seeing those photos,DG. A visit to the museum will go on my to do list, but as there's only six weeks left,I'd better put it in the red zone. 😉
Went several weeks ago, so as to see the other exhibition, about child migrants, as well.
But I bought a complete set of Clangers CD ...
If those are the best museum exhibits ever, what were they when you saw them in Canterbury six years ago? http://diamondgeezer.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/canterbury-ii.html
I almost always learn something from the erudite DG. This time, I was prompted to find out about Dylan Thomas writing backwards about New Quay. Thank you!
One of my favourite bits of this exhibition was the letter from someone at the BBC suggesting that work be found for Oliver Postgate, setting out the wonderful things he has come up with such as 'an animated pig of great charm which plays the violin'. The letter concludes 'I feel it is our loss that we have so far been unable to find employment for this odd but valuable person'. The full letter can be seen on the Museum of Childhood twitter account.
Bagpuss, Noggin and the Clangers are all firm favourites with my grandchildren, along with Mr Benn. We reckon that we have about 20 minutes after they arrive before we get asked "Can I watch some Bagpuss?" Just goes to show that if it's good it doesn't lose its appeal.
I went to a concert at the Museum a while back. To get to my seat, the usher told me to "walk past Bagpuss and turn left at the Clangers". Which was good.
