Write your haiku here
A moment from your weekend
(and count carefully)

On annual leave
Woke up at five any way
P**sing down with rain.
yoga and marking
hot chocolate with wife and son
football before bed
What's on DG today
Buses walks trains or something cool.
No. Just some Haiku!

dg writes: [not a haiku]
Sheets of rain pour down
Puddles form on gravel drive
Walk to post can wait
Self-isolation
Only nine days left until
I can leave the house
Cats to vet, check-up!
Blimey, I pant, they’ve both grown,
Taking them back home.
Cats scatter in fright!
Neighbours' rockets exploding
in torrential rain
Haiku form is moot:
We speak a stress-timed langwij
Not syllable-timed.
Walked down into town
Many children in the park
Bought an "i" weekend
To write a Haiku
is harder than I thought so
I should try again

Was it the lack of
a reference to nature
or just something else

So ruin my day
when the italics do say
Not a Haiku too

dg writes:
Yes these are haiku,
but last time your syllables
exceeded limits.

Veg box to use up
I should eat that aubergine
Bloody beetroot too
My fence has blown down
No post to look forward to
I go back to bed
Far to difficult
for me to digest, before
my morning coffee
Cat is sick. Plan to
Take her to the vet. But she
Quickly recovers
First to Lidl for food
It could have been Ocado
But the pounds are tight

Then Sky for the golf
Green jacket but no trophy
DG to DJ
New CPAP machine
Can't sleep with the bastard
Tear it off my face.
Hard graft all morning
Clearing parkland's greenery
Getting wet, again.

Home for lunch, hurrah
Afternoon nice and cosy
Finding ancestors
Strictly Come Dancing
Was enjoyable this week
Saturday highlight
Composing a piece
for soprano, tenor, bass
with an alto, too.

The theme is winter.
My friend wrote the lovely words.
The harmony works.
Covent Garden tree
Trafalgar fountains in lights
Twinkly but so damp.
Ditch is flowing fast
Windfall apples rushing past
Where will they all go?
Dinner with a friend
Takeaway pizza and wine
Cold bench at the Thames

Weekends don't stop work
Nice stress relief is the view
from Telegraph Hill
30! 1am
Overnight Melbourne perspires
Waiting for the wind...
Drink my coffee and
sit at the computer to
read diamond geezer
Pork in the oven
Roasting for five long hours
The smell is so good!
Sprouts back in season
Cooked with pepper and onion then
fried in some butter
Snooze: ten more minutes.
Another ten. Another.
Half eleven? Yikes!
new East Wick café
has pallets on the ceiling
It's a look, I guess.
mellow fruitfulness
taking stuff to compost heap -
but who will use it?
I went for a walk,
Inspired by DG.
One mile out and one mile back.
Go for a walk, app
says rain in an hour but it's
never right. It's right.

The grass is now cut
I had kept putting it off
Hope it does not die

Writing a sulky blog post
Thanks DG - Love Dom
A haiku this ain't,
For mora and syllables
Are not the same thing.
Interesting post.
All those splendid Haiku lines.
Really enjoyed it.
Shop, cafe, swim, phone
Parents. From Africa
Covid seems unreal.
Post updated, thanks.

Some were excellent
but if you count syllables
they were not haiku

Windy as hell here
Gusts above one hundred K
Hope power stays on!
Summer days await
In the southern hemisphere
Still, mustn't grumble
