it wasn't when the Circle line was extended it changed it's name - it was when the Overground station opened as 'Shepherds Bush' that it changed as having three stations with the same name is obviously confusing.

SBM is a stupid name though, and it would have been better called 'Uxbridge Road' IMHO ...
Assuming that readers' anagram tube maps have not yet been updated for this name change, may I suggest "Shakers Threshed Bump".
Am not sure that Uxbridge Road would have been any better a name; after all it's a very long road and only those who know their Underground history would immediately associate a station with that name with the Shepherds Bush area.
Shepherd's Bush West, or, if they intend for aspiring market shoppers to alight there, then SBM is fine...
Edgware Road is a very long road, and yet two tube stations get away with using it!
Three stations have used the name Edgware Road although not at the same time.
