"I suspect I'm suffering from Inverse Seasonal Affective Disorder"

No, you're just still in caveman mindset

Nowt wrong with that. She says, as a cofirmed cavewoman.

I thought it was just me. I work, go to the gym, go out, and still feel as if there's vast chasms of day to fill. I'm also single, so times that feeling by, ooh, a hundred!

At least you don't live within the Arctic Circle - the sun wouldn't be setting at all there. They don't call it the Land of the Midnight Sun for nothing!

However, as the nights start drawing back in, I then want the days to be slightly longer. In this case, I'd say we get the ideal amount of daylight in March or September, around the spring and autumn equinoxes.

I'm the complete opposite - I find the dark evenings of winter oppressive, making me feel like I should scurry home as soon as possible, rather than going out and doing all the things I like to do.

Whereas at the moment I'm out doing stuff all the time, life feels full and exciting, and I'm not even as tired despite doing more - my body appreciates being woken up gently and naturally by the daylight rather than abruptly and rudely by the alarm in winter.

I'm with Geoff on this one. w00t! for daylight.

Meanwhile invest in some blackout blinds/Really Thick curtains for your bedroom window.

We've recently had the streetlight outside our house changed from the old sodium lamp (orange light, not too much) for a High Pressure Sodium Vapour lamp. Aaaarrggh! It's now nearly as bright as day. The leaves of plants in the garden nearly look green. Goodness only knows how they'll do, particularly those who recognise the progression of seasons by day length.

We're ok, we have thick velvet curtains in our bedroom. Plus an alarm clock which goes off far too early weekdays.

Every summer, year after year, I'm moved to comment at least once that "it's amazing it's still so light at [x] o'clock". Why does it surprise me every time?!

Well I'm of the school that finds the dark gloomy month of Juneuary to be totally oppressive.

What is Juneuary? Juneuary is the month of June in Seattle... where global climate change has provided the coldest June on record since 1894!

T.S. Elliott was wrong. April is not the cruelest month... June is.

:0)

just read this post, and yes, the daylight brings so much pressure...especially if you are single
