M is easily discoverable via Google (but I went for the one I knew). The difficult one is D, which also remains...
D) earthquake in the NorthWestern USA? ...9.2 ...known as the "Good Friday" earthquake
d) is the massive Alaskan earthquake of 1964 (with added local tsunami), which I do recall from the time it happened, honest.

Don't recall m), though can be deduced as others have commented. Perhaps it wasn't a big deal on the BBC at the time, from which I fleetingly got the news before getting the bus to school.
