Did you know you have the Household Cavalry Museum on the 50,000-100,000 list twice?

Well, a few years ago I was one of those visitors to Carew Manor. Interesting tour but more so if you are local. We went because the large amounts of housing land (including our house) were originally sold off from the Carow Manor estate when one of the former owners who inherited it was forced to sell after placing one too many very large bets on a horse.

This seems very London-centric. I believe both Stonehenge and the Roman Baths here in Bath get over 1 million per year.

Having recently moved to Croydon (sadly, practically next door to Reeves' Furniture Store), Carew Manor and Carshalton House/Water Tower are definitely on my list of places to visit! Thanks for drawing them to my attention.

Also great to see the fantastic Horniman getting so many visitors, especially since Forest Hill isn't otherwise on the tourist trail.

Maybe on the 27th May next year, you could visit Carshalton House and write a blog post about it. I'm sure it would make an interesting read!

Alternatively, you could be one of the people who visit the Cirencester Lock-Up, pushing its visitor count to an unheard-of six peopleā€¦

With the expected cell shortages in the near future, the Cirencester Lock-Up will get some reluctant visitors. ;-D

The water tower gets a mention for the reason I was given for not being allowed to take pictures of the delft tiles in the bathing area: "copyrights".

er, it was a list of London attractions, so hardly surprising that Stonehenge is missed off...

Thanks for this DG, this is the kind of post that captures everything I love about your blog!

I'm surprised the Houses of Parliament are so high, as unlike the other top attractions, entrance is strongly controlled and restricted.

500,000 equates to 10,000 visitors there every week???

Maybe the figure includes how many times the MPs claim they go there:)

Though I did go there once many years ago on a trip organised by my Gran's WI. They also organised for our local MP at the time to show us around. It is well worth going if you ever get the chance.
