So, where are you lot going?

Three years back, I visited the Reform Club in Piccadilly under the Open House Scheme (http://www.reformclub.co.uk/). It was meant to be pre-booking only for this one (which, in my idleness, I hadn't done), but I managed to get in anyway. So glad I did; the building is marvellous. What made it especially good were the two members who showed us around. Fascinating stuff.

You are going to have a busy weekend, aren't you?

Out of London now, sadly. Our open house is next weekend (Scotland has to be different)

I hope you've got comfy shoes

Amsterdam on an architectural study tour! Bad planning by someone who should have known better. I'd recommend going to visit individual houses which are open, on the basis that you would probably never get the opportunity otherwise. Housing is also the theme of this year's OH so there should be a lot to see. Have fun.

Someone else pointed out on a post some years ago that although the polymath Benjamin Franklin was many things one of the few he was not was president of the United States. So unless some other president lived there Benjamin Franklin's house was not a presidential home.

This venue remains on the top two of my list of "must do sometime" items. The only place I have ever seen it mentioned is your blog. Otherwise I would never have known about it.

Off to Barts for me this year to see the Hogarth and the Willis Building for the views from the 23rd floor.

I can echo the recommendation for the Reform Club, I went last year and the tour was fascinating.

I'm almost pleased to see that despite my best efforts the buggers still haven't changed the picture of "St Augustine's Tower" - it's *still* the church in Kilburn.

I was cursing that fact that Open House weekend clashes with Freewheel until I realised I can simply not turn round at the Tower of London and continue cycling to reach Wilton's Music Hall.

Oops. Mentioned that I cycle. Sinks further in DG's esteem.

I mentioned that I once went to a synagogue on a school trip yesterday. Well, on another school trip I visited the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden, and I would recommend it as well. I think it is the largest Hindu temple outside of India, and it is absolutely enormous. You really get a sense of how big it is when you go inside.

It's not just London, the London Boroughs are showing loads as well. Croydon is having guided tours of the Crematorium, that would be fun, I think not, still could visit my Mum & Dad while I'm there!

checked out the turkish baths.

looks great but very cheesy. I suggest anyone that wants to see it just goes for a drink as the atmosphere is not great.
