Ian, you haver my sympathy with regards to IE8 as its required where I work to support some internal systems, though mercifully we also get Chrome to use for non-internal stuff. On the other hand, my company has just withdrawn support for IE8 in our products because its become impossible to shoe-horn the functionality into it that is standard on all the modern browsers & providing compatability of any sort is a huge maintenance expense.
Top tip: if you are using a computer install Adblock plus and have no annoying BA Background
I noticed during the strike that tfL's obsession with alphabetical order made it very difficult to identify which was the closest station that was open - a list of closed District Line stations which puts Upney next to Upminster Bridge is just silly.
There also appears to be a length limit for comments in the feedback. about 10 lines (in the box) failed to post, 2 posted OK.
During last nights twitter chat, Tramlink confirmed live departure information for tram stops will be available this summer. The system is being upgraded.

I've tried, but my comments were moderated out.... Be too critical and they'll block your comments....
I wonder what the management / approval structure is for the tfl web? How did this get signed off?
Whilst having National Rail on the Service Update page (sorry, Status Updates are for Facebook), they really need to re-think how they display the information. I looked last night and for about eight TOCs it displayed "Planned Closure", when I drilled down to Southeastern it was because the 23:25 from somewhere A to somewhere B would terminate short at somewhere C and be replaced by a bus for the rest of the journey. In my mind this doesn't warrant listing the whole TOC as being closed.

I also used the 'Nearby' feature to see the bus stops near my office. It showed route 76 with an exclamation mark so I clicked it was told that the 76 had a special service running. "Why's that?" I thought... Apparently it can't serve stop K at Seven Sisters due to the shelter being replaced. Again, does this warrant 'Special Service"?

Not only has TfL decided that everyone everywhere has access to the internet, we're all doing so from tablets now. I'm not and therefore I don't need a designed for tablets webpage.

3/10 must try a lot harder. :-(
The Dangleway according to their site, had got a 'Good Service on All Lines'. LINES! Multiple, w00t! where else non-useful does it now go to then?
On a more positive note for obsessive information gatherers: there is a lot of company/background/openness information that just wasn't there before. From a personal perspective this more than compensates for any other weaknesses (the vast majority of which I hope will be eliminated in due course).
Well thank you for posting the link to the old website yesterday. Under road disruptions, the old site lists 48 this morning, including two in my locality.
The new site lists 14 in the form exclamation marks on the map and says 'road information is unavailable'.
I don't care if its my browser/laptop or whatever. It used to work, it now doesn't, so is therefore useless for me -- even if it sings and dances for others.
Again, thanks for the link.
Your observation that anyone in possession of half a clue about the transport network is strangely disadvantaged by the website design is spot on. If you want detail you'll struggle to find it.

Quite how the site could launch with significant elements like Timetables and Maps not working properly I know not. Isn't a Timetable a fundamental aspect of any public transport service? Having Live Departure info is an excellent addition but irrelevant if planning in advance. Thank goodness TfL do appear to be reasonably responsive to feedback on their Digital Blog.
Has something been let slip here?
On ythe status page I get this

"Google has disabled use of the Maps API for this application. This site is not authorised to use the Google Maps client ID provided"

What does that mean? Is this a browser problem, or a firewall problem, or an licencing problem between tfL and Google, or what?
On the homepage, there is a "This weekend" link just below the main service message.
I work at TfL - we are recommended to use Internet Explorer 7!
On the maps page of the desktop version, Tube, DLR and Overground are represented by their correct roundel. Buses are represented by the older white roundel in red lozenge rather than the post-2000 all red roundel. Tram, Cycle Hire and River lose their roundels in favour of icons. Strange.
Oh yes that IE8 issue is nasty. I am also supposed to use IE8 at work so I'm sure IE8 is still widely used, even if it is horrible (I also use Firefox at work and always use it at home).
Are comments on the TfL blog pre-moderated, or have I fallen foul of a posting bug? I just wrote a great big essay that hasn't appeared :/
think perhaps we have become a "ungrateful" lot. there must still be people out there who do not have a computer or smart-phone to be able to access all this "wealth" of info.
"ad-lite homepage" - I've got two adverts on the home page now - one for Google Play and one for BT. :(
Oh, and "Our data service is currently unavailable. We are trying to fix this. Please come back later."

Great.
"I once went on a change management course" ...really. "most of us have an inbuilt resistance to new things because they're unfamiliar"...is that so? Best thing that can be done when these courses are arranged is to refuse to go. See how they like that for a change. The new things I don't like are working harder, for longer and having my wages reduced.
What browsers/devices TfL supports...

(Found on the new site)
Oh and http://blog.tfl.gov.uk/2014/03/26/new-website-your-questions-answered/

"Where can I find downloadable bus maps?

It’s clear from your feedback that some of you love the ‘spider’ maps and area maps, which are pdfs.

We’ve created some really nice interactive maps that show you transport links near your given location (try them in ‘Nearby’), and display live information such as bus routes and stops, and cycle hire docking stations.

However it’s clear that for some this can’t replace the original maps, so we’ll be adding these to the new site shortly as well."
Thanks a billion Mr Geezer for the link back to the old site. The new one is driving me up the wall! I'm feeding back from every one of my devices, but the old adage of "if it ain't broke, fix it till it is" never rung truer.

Keep up the good work! Greatly appreciated.

@Messiah indeed. comment number 1 caught my eye...
Now that TfL have moved over to the new site completely, is there anywhere that the old site can be accessed from?

From a UX perspective the new site is very poor, and actually I find that using it from my phone is worse than the old site.
Every station name now appears in blue color. This looks fine.
