I did take in a filled bottled water on Monday, the security scan picked it up and I had to get it out of the bag, but as it was a very warm evening they let me take it in. Now I know why there was such a long line of people filling bottles at the water dispensers. They must have all brought empty bottles in with them.
The gardens did look nice, and it was good to see them "as new" and not after a week or so of thousands of people having walked over or around them.
The park will be a pleasant feature for the area after the games have gone.

I'd be interested in seeing more of the landscaped, "park" part of the Olymipa Park - the area around the stadium appears to be mostly built up, and I wondered where the real park part is!

Inthe Munich Olympia Park (next door to where I'm writing this), the majority of the stadiums and arenas are very close together - it must have been verya congested during the games - however, the rest of the park has some very large landscaped areas. The London park seems to be much more spreadout along the river.
I was under the impression the liquids limit was 10 containers of 100ml each (so a litre in total)?

What's the problem with BYO kittens? How much are they ripping off the punters for stadium bought ones? And will the range be any good? And the quality? Will they be fake Chinese rip-off kittens?
Free WiFi being offered in the West End as of today.

Olympics officially starts today with some football...

What's the official word on using Hackney Wick station?

Wot NO Kittens!!!
I get that there are restrictions on what you can bring into the Park. So I can bring in an empty bottle and fill it. Or buy a coke. Ok.

Can I then take this bottle of water, or a coke, into the venue for my session, let's say the aquatics centre?

Also, I get that each venue within the Park, eg the aquatics centre, also sells food and drink within it. I guess it is like Wembley or other venues where a ring of food sellers runs round between the external doors and the entrance you take to your seats, if Ive explained that well. Let's assume Imstill carrying my drink. Or if I couldnt take it into the aquatics centre, I bought a new one inside it. Can I then take my bottle of water, or a coke, to my seat? Or do I have to consume it in the area where food is sold?

If youre able to answer,Id be grateful. I am a bit confused, not helped by London2012's use of the term 'venue' to mean the Park, but also the facilities within it such as the stadium, aquatics centre etc are each a venue too. Argh!

I went to London2012's website to check their FAQ. You have to enter search terms. So I entered 'drink' and was referred to ...their babes in arms policy. Sigh.

Help welcome, as I take meds that give me a dry mouth so I like to havea drink with me at all times, to sip. Preferably not water, I thought I could take some Lucozade sport powder to mix with water, but if the queues are 100 people then sod that. And getting orange powder in the bottom of empty bottles through security might be interesting!

Anyway, cheers if you can help.
Once you're inside the Olympic Park, whether you buy your drink or get it from the water fountains, you can take it anywhere.
Kittens of any sort are a waste of money IMHO. They only last a few weeks and then they turn into cats.
Thanks dg!

I actually went in last night, to sing in the media centre. They didn't stop me from taking in drinks in my bag, so I snapped hubby drinking Tesco Cola in the Olympic Park, which made me laugh. Coke would have kittens!

The friendly Para who searched our car said that you may not be able to take drinks from the Park into each event venue, e.g. the aquatics centre. But that if you buy a drink from within the aquatics centre (or other event venue), you can then take it to your seat, which was a relief to me (and answers the questions I posted earlier). It does slightly contradict what you said, though (but he may be wrong, or things may have changed, etc) in that the Para saw the Opening Ceremony rehearsal and he said that there were security searches again to get into the stadium, hence the suggestion that you might not be able to take the bottle that you've filled into the stadium (but can refill it once in the stadium and then take it to your seat if you wish). Hmm. Guess we will have to wait til the sports start, to find out the exact situation that they will be applying!
Sorry to hear that BYO kittens are verboten, but hopefully the venue will provide onsite cats to keep down any vermin.
Chiming in at last Debster! What took you?

And to keep up the kitty theme, which is about the most interesting thing that has happened Olympics wise so far, maybe No. 10 will donate the services of Larry to the cause?

Or maybe The Goodies will unleash the giant kitten again?
I've been reading on RSS instead of here and there are no comments over there. I could do with a 'like' button on here for the comments as well, been spending too much time on face book.
Ah, I'm not up with all that fancy RSS jazz. But being an Olympic Grinch / Scrooge I have been skimming anyway, and devoting what would otherwise have been reading time to scritching kitty time. :)
