Mr BW went past on the train yesterday, and came home declaring that it now looks more like a very untidy building site than it has for years. All the paths gone, heaps of muddy earth and piles of lumps of broken-up asphalt everywhere.

Reading your link to the BBC report on first residents moving in, I chuckled at the building contractors statement "....carry out repairs necessary as a result of intensive use by the athletes and officials".
How much damage could they do in a few weeks occupancy. I guess they did have a lot of strength and energy.

It looks like they are building a new block next to the Orbit. WIll this be the visitor centre for the Orbit or a cafe / community centre?

Alongside the work going on to widen the Eastway bridge, they're also taking down the big perimeter fence. Looks like there's going to be a new path in to the park from the ramp up from the towpath too.
