In any case, I believe it was The Netherlands playing Spain rather than one of the two Provinces of North and South Holland (see witty explanation here http://www.cgpgrey.com/blog/the-difference-between-holland-the-netherlands if you fancy being even more confused!).

I think, for once in my life I'm glad I can't see the monitors, and for the announcements not even attempting to be consistent with them.
For some people...those with English as not their first language or those with reading difficulties...this all makes for added confusion where it is not needed. These matrix boards should only be used for travel info...or to inform people of incidents.
Information pollution.
I wish someone would tell TfL that you need to keep your Oyster card SEPARATELY from your bank card.

Or keep your Oyster card SEPARATED from your bank card

NOT to keep your Oyster card SEPARATE from your bank card ... to avoid card clash.

"Separate is an adjective meaning forming or viewed as a unit apart or by itself; separated is the past participle of separate, which means cause to move or be apart."

?
Hmmm. Should it be uninterested or disinterested or simply not interested?
/indifferent
rogerw:"disinterested" means you don't have a stake in the outcome of something, but you might catch your interest.

Frankly, "uninterested" means you don't give a damn.

If you don't have shares in Google, you are disinterested in their stock price, but you can still Google something and read the results.
So presumably Tfl will now broadcast full results for all sports, rolling news bulletins, etc. Will there be room for transport information ?
I too have been thinking about other sports events. Wimbledon tennis starts in about ten days, and then there's the
Commonwealth Games coming soon. What have TfL started, I wonder.
Fatnastic.
Briantist. I am confused and don't understand your point? Could you explain further why what TFL say is wrong?
It's because Brian's a pedant whose understanding of language is stuck somewhere in the last century.

Frankly, none of this stuff annoys me as much as the current internet fad of starting blog posts, tweets, comment etc with a completely redundant "So..."
At DLR stations, there's always that announcement that "Oyster card users need to touch in and out at the start and end of your journey". That switch from the 3rd to the 2nd person is so very jarring!
