My one and only trip to Rome did include the Metro and the older trains were truly horrible.....covered in graffiti. The new ones by VAF were lovely but at the time, not in service. (It was a business trip to Rome metro). I did take a taxi and had never been quite so scared as the female taxi drive spent the entire journey fiddling with her mobile phones...two of them at the same time. The train back to the airport at the end was infinitely oreferable! Apart from these issues, I loved the architecture and the friendly locals but was really glad to be back in UK!
Yay, another post about cats. DG is softening ...
The best way to cross the road is to follow a nun. Nuns never get run over.
Great round up DG. Rome's a wonderful city and I think striking lucky with the weather meant December was a great time to go.

I also don't understand people who don't look out of airplane windows when it's clear !!
just watching from my shed
It's a pity London couldn't have kept its high rise buildings at bay and let history tell its own story.
Kevin, personally I get air sick looking out of the window.
Of course you didn't!
"A rather good idea is the existence of an amber man between the green and red, this an indication that traffic is about to start up again, rather than the guessing game we often face on UK roads."

How's the countdown experiment/ rollout getting on in London ?
https://tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/improvements-and-projects/pedestrian-countdown

Pedestrian Countdown technology is in place at more than 400 traffic light sites across London.

Yes but ?
Thanks for the memories. Visited Rome with school back in the seventies. One of the advantages of studying Latin!
The cheapest way to get from the airport is to catch the bus to the nearest metro station, about 15 minutes from what I rememeber. I'm not sure if I'd consider that worth saving £4 or so now.
