The sweepstake is closed to new entrants, sorry.

Oh come on, you can't have it all... I heard at a talk last night that the Olympic building programme is on budget and 5 weeks ahead of schedule.

The difference is that lots of important people were getting very angry with TfL about the never-ending Jubilee line closures - hence (probably not unreasonable) attempts to deflect the criticism onto the suppliers.

With this DLR route, on the other hand, no one important seems to care that it's not open yet - no one important anyway - so TfL just prefers to keep shtum and hope no one notices.

More importantly though, you never did explain how you managed to get photos of all the new station names on a in-train Dot Matrix display that you posted a few months back...

If the opening date sweepstake is closed, how about a new one for how long after opening will it take before it's closed for engineering work? My bet is six weeks.

Oooh Simon you cynic, very sharp! :o)

Unfortunately probably very aposite too...

LOL

Come on, its the DLR, this is to be expected.

Here's an interesting development I spotted yesterday on a Lewisham to Bank train:

This extension is a farce. It currently takes longer to get between the two Stratford stations (by bus and the tour of the building site) than the journey from St.Pancras does. Even if there is little demand for the station at International, surely the intermediate DLR stops warrant a service?

There are several similar reasons emerging as to the delay. The line is only going to be handed over to DLR on 31/7/11 - this is in the latest Rail / underground panel papers.

There have been several comments about contractor or sub contractor problems. London Travelwatch Board papers record a comment from the TfL Commissioner about a contractor having problems and this being the cause of the delay.

With the evacuation test exercise on the 7th Aug and then new rosters post 21st Aug I suspect we might be talking about the Bank Holiday weekend or first weekend of September for opening (not what I guessed in the sweepstake). This, of course, depends on the service testing ramping up nicely to the point where a ghost service runs and replicates the public service.

I think I chose very wisely so far choosing the end of August! ;)

I will be attending the emergency testing thing, and I also posted links to all of the live train indicators on the extension on a forum. Copying me much, dg? ;)

They've been digging up the new extension;s platforms at Canning Town - not sure why

either eskimopie or fishislandskin or Mark Garth, Mark P will win the sweepstake. New schedule to start 8th August, may possibly move back to 15th at the latest.
