Oh dear! Time for another cup if tea methinks.
I got cold just reading this post
Have you been reading my mind again?
I know, I know.
Captures the mood perfectly DG. *sniff*
Ah, yes. Reminds me of Art of Noise - Opus 4 - YouTube...
Dark November brings the fog,
Should not do it to a dog.

Freezing wet December, then...
Bloody January again!
Time to hibernate I wish!
The different writing style experiments continue, with barely a full stop in sight today.

I can't wait to see the results of the research. It can't be simply DG's mood at the time of writing, can it?
Dark to work, and dark home again. Bloody miserable time, and the presence of a toddler now means I can't even cheer myself up with a post work pint or three.

And why aren't beds more ... nest shaped?
Poor DG. At least we know that shorter nights will come, eventually!
Lovely weather for running. Little wind, nice temperature, slight drizzle and not too many people about. Time for a few miles methinks.
You should try having your birthday in November! Makes it even worse!
Just been out - absolutely C**p, cold, wet and dank. A day to stay in if you can!
If you can afford it and if you don't have kids.. forget going on holiday in the summer (the weather's at its best here) and go away for one week in November and one week in February. When the cold weather comes you're looking forward to going away on your hols, when you come back, it's almost time for christmas, after which you've got another holiday coming up! Not long after that, it's almost summer.
I agree with Chris, take holidays in UK winter time and go somewhere sunnier and warmer. It is also cheaper too, especially if you can avoid school holiday dates. I am off again in 2 weeks time and cannot wait to get away from the UK's dark and cold.
Going out on cold dark damp days is no fun, buses have the windows shut and get steamed up inside so you cannot see out, if someone sneezes the germs soon get to you too.
As for people closing blinds when it is sunny, that really annoys me, yesterday morning I was in a local hall, playing the piano for some choir and the sun was shining through the high windows, it was not long before someone got up and drew the blackout curtains!, when we get so little sun at this time of year, we should enjoy it, not shut it out.
I always feel better after the 21st December as I know that the Northern hemisphere is tilting back towards the sun then and the daylight hours are getting longer every day.
When I had a car I did not notice the winter so much, it was easy to get into a warm car, it is riding my bicycle and public transport that are no fun in the winter.
I could have written that every year for about 50 years - and then I retired!
Now when I get up in the dark it's to make a cup of tea and back to bed to watch something recorded on Sky+, and if it's really rank outside we cook something nice for lunch and wash it down with something nice! Bliss!
Summer means there's always a stack of jobs to do in the bloody garden.
Getting old has very many compensations.
Reminds me of "Mrs Brady, Old Lady" from Viz (when it was good).
Beautiful!
Merry Christmas!!
Glad you got that off your chest. Do you feel better now? :)
Roll on January ! At least the nights are getting shorter and the first sign of next Christmas is eight months away...
Er... I think you mean turkey testicles...

And don't get rid of January, please!
In Doha for a bit. Cloudy, rain and lightning. But still reasonably warm. Lucky I brought my unbrella.
And geofftech might have said "...and a happy new year!"
November

No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! -
November!

Thomas Hood
In good news, it appears my central heating still works.
The laws on the clocks don't help. Why 99.9999% of us have to put up with what the 0.0001% of us want, escapes me.
I've been in a foul mood all day - seems like I'm not alone.
True story. I met a neighbour in the supermarket yesterday and we had a very satisfactory mutual grumble. He said he can't find a comfortable hat to keep the sun off his nearly-bald head. I said that getting this kind of settled sunny weather in November means we'll probably fry in January and February :)
Veronica! That's the poem I was trying to recall! But nowadays we can at least get fruits and flowers from the shops.
Veronica, that was the first thing that came into my mind when I read this too.
Calm down DG. At least your not in Canada!
And the wind has picked up here in Doha, so swimming in the outdoor pool wasn't so pleasing.
