Thanks for the information about CityMapper, it's also available for the iPhone. This is going straight on the phone for the next trip to London.

I have in years gone bye made several donations to the old Underground Gents Loo near to the Church and the Bow flyover, in those days there was an Undertakers on the corner of Bromley high Street.

Aldwych station is on the Strand, not the Stand !

Even more fun, today's blog. City Mapper is superb - thanks DG. With this brilliant map I have discovered that if I walk from Liverpool Street to Trafalgar Square I earn my pint in calories. And I'm the 75,183,585,400th human being - how awful is that! The UCL weather page is interesting too. And thanks for the Aldwich news: it's a while since I travelled on this branch.

The CityMapper site appears to have some very optimistic times for buses. It claims that my normal commute would take 56 mins by bus, when the TfL Journey Planner gives a more realistic 1hr45 by bus.

By an immense fluke, I am in London the weekend in November that Aldwych is open. I shall be obsessively checking the booking page to try and get on one of the tours, so huge thanks for flagging this up :)

Love city mapper

Love city mapper

CityMapper also a bit optimistic (ie wrong) on prices - seems to price the start to end zone rather than the route shown. Try Canning Town to Oval for example.

Shame the Tube isn't Tube/Train.

Quite clever but I think I trust TfL more for my actual planning.

2 hours 15 minutes to cycle from my home in Blackheath to my office in Blackfriars? Is this site sponsored by the anti-cycling campaign. My usual time is 50-55 minutes, and I'm 60 years old.

And the tube option seems to think Blackfriars underground station is open. Whoops. About 7 weeks too early, at least.

Alan use the drop down and you will see the 2 hrs plus time refers to those using Boris bikes. There is another estimated time for "personal bikes".

DG, you are a treasure. Thanks for this.

What a fun mixture of things to play with!
Didn't like the way the TfL's events page just regurgitated the same blurb about 'loving or hating it' for each event, until you clicked the more information link that is.

@HoosierSands -- thanks, hadn't spotted that. 55 min to 1 h 5 min is about what I do (slower home because I'm too old to cycle up Crooms Hill or through Greenwich Park) so I can't be that unfit.

THANK YOU! Aldwych tube tour tickets are properly on sale now, and I bagsied two. The mister and I have been wanting to go down there for years now!

Looking at city mapper on a Sunday, and it suggests I take the Waterloo & City.
Small problem, it being shut, but that's the kind of thing that kills this kind of website.

If it could also include real-time events (like the Lord Mayors Show, or Arsenal playing at home) it would be a winner.
