This post begs for an "And then..." coda, but I suppose what happened next was probably mundane rather than extraordinary.
Reminds me of the Brighton and Hove "28" bus to Tunbridge Wells "via" Uckfield Bus Stand.

You keep thinking that you're almost there and it nips off on yet another detour!

Still it does have a stops called Fujitsu, Yew Tree Close, East Hoathly Rectory Close,
Windlesham Manor, Green Lane and one last trip to Tunbridge Wells Sainsburys.
Aah, you have already done the B12. Wow, that sounds like torture.
I did say the B11 provided a contrast!
You've got me fretting about poor old Bryn now!

Although my recommended R3 takes you to rural Chelsfield Village and back again, it makes the B11 look like a roman road. I fear you may find a lot of these routes prone to this type of excessive meandering.
Oh dear! Not a very successful journey, but a great post nonetheless!
Great post. Another one that comes under the heading "Things DG does so that we don't have to."!
So:
mileage to date: 17
time: 65 minutes
average speed: 15.7mph
19.2 mph on the A10 (a bit disappointing given that nearly a quarter of it was on a motorway!), and 13.5 mph on the B11

Ages of buses: haven't a clue: the A10's number plate is out of focus and the B11's is out of shot!

@ Timbo - a quick check on London Vehicle Finder brings up DE1596 as the A10 bus (08 reg) as I can read "FLW" as the final three letters on the reg plate. The buses on the B11 are all of a batch (60 reg).
Ahhh. You're spoiling me and teasing me at the same time, with these descriptions of doing things that I can only dream of.
With no Oyster card and for the time being no contactless credit card, I must resign myself to just occasional flights of fancy to imagine what it must be like to travel on a bus...
... or to visit Thamesmead
@PC
Much obliged: so the average ago so far is about 5 years old.

Did Bexleybus ever loose the franchise? Wasn't it always directly operated by London Buses, or London Regional Transport; albeit using a low-cost subsidiary operator using rubbish vehicles and paying crap money to staff? The combination of the two caused such unreliability that the operation was eventually wound up (ditto other such schemes - Harrow Bus and Sutton Bus).
